The artwork is horrible and I got hit in the face with woke ♥♥♥♥ one minute into the game. What a disgrace to the MI franchise.
It's a shame they chose such a terrible art style. The game was magical in the 90s with the highly detailed pixel art presenting pretty much the best possible realism at the time. They've ditched that to present a Cartoon Network reject style of art. The game itself is good, follows the same storytelling tropes and puzzles. Just the art is horrible and whoever directed the art style should be exiled from game development.

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Aug 31: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Return to Monkey Island is a good nostalgia trip. It’s a familiar setting with a loving callout to characters from all the previous games. Having said that, while there are plenty of whimsical moments in the game, nothing really seemed really fun, just more of a trip down nostalgia lane. Unfortunately I wouldn’t recommend the game not only because of that, but also the botched entire last act. Without spoilers, the ending left a lot of open threads hanging and was a cop out to a meta type ending that doesn’t really bring a strong conclusion. If you do decide to pick it up despite this and want to go for all the achievements, you should do the first play through in hard mode. Bear in mind that there are missable achievements all the way from the start, so maintain save points through the start of each chapter if you’re aiming for 100% achievements.
Nostalgia bait disgusts me
NOT FUNNY. Only played a short while and it was enough. The game is not funny, the dialog options are not witty and the actions are not amusing. Maybe it's the woke agenda that doesn't sit well or the constant reliance on referring to the originals or the bad voice acting or the poor story telling in general or all of the above. Do yourself a favor just play the first 3 titles instead and let the Monkey Island IP rip.
girl, what was that copy paste ending................
That was by far the worst Monkey Island Game I've ever played. Everything about it seemed like a parody of what the series used to be: the characters, the graphics, the humor, and especially the story right down to the ending. It feels like Ron Gilbert revisited his old work but lost sight of what made it magical. Maybe he was just trying to cash in or maybe he genuinely intended to create something good without knowing where to go. LeChuck turned into a pathetic joke, Elaine became a dull sidekick, Wally had no personality to speak of, other beloved characters were there doing basically nothing than reappearing, and Guybrush just rehashed old lines without any fresh perspective beyond chasing the so-called Secret of Monkey Island. No motives, just following an empty idea. And that secret itself? Completely hollow, silly, wanna-be-meta. As a fan of the series I'm disappointed and can only replay the old games again to get over that latest accident.
The game is "fine". Nothing more nothing less. The curse of Monkey Island still is the best of them all (yes, also better than 1&2), still, at least this one is better than "Escape" and "Tales". The "solution" to the story is "lazy". The irony is that one of the optional ends is way better than the "real" end. So, why am i voting this down? Simple, you can see and feel that Disneys "woke department" had a lot of a say in this, so far that a clearly "male" pirate has a clearly "female" voice. Of course are all lead roles female (execpt for Guybrush and Le Chuck) and all "races" are there no matter if it makes any sense or not. Also are all male roles stupid or weak or something like that and all female rols are clever, powerfull etc. and of course are rols which would make sense as a male dileberatly shown as females. The only thing "missing" is an LGBTQ relationship. So again, not voting this down because it is a "bad game" but to show protest against this forced messaging in games.
Target audience is age 0-9 kids with their parents playing on tablets. This tells you about the complexity of the game. The story ends with an anti climactic ending and a "it was all a dream" twist(!), which throws away all your time and effort and gives you the middle finger. Actually it's double "dream" because you know it's just a story to begin with. Of course this is an amazing twist if you are a 9 years or younger who is new to life.
As a person who never played any of the Monkey Island games, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't that good for a point & click game I feel like the twist ending wasn't really what I expected it to be? The game sort of build it up as the secret won't be what Guybrush is looking forward to and is not worth all the 'eggs he cracked along the way'. But the ending doesn't follow through with any of this
