Resident Evil Revelations

It would be an absolute exaggeration to say that it's as good as RE5 or RE6, but overall it's quite short and fun. The biggest problem with the game is the poor and disjointed storytelling. Other problems are the unresponsive dodging mechanics and how simplistic the gameplay is compared to the previous games but since it was originally made for a handheld console it can be forgiven. Overall, the game is short and enjoyable to play and I'd recommend buying it when it's on sale.

5/10 - The game is ok. I played it on the Steam Deck. On Steam Deck, the cutscenes cut off at the beginning on most of them. Super annoying.

Considering this was a port of a 3DS exclusive it wasn't horrible, and still retained some identity as an RE title. However it was clearly the point they committed to being an action shooter franchise, and its a bit shocking they released this after the RE1 remake, which I enjoyed thoroughly. The environments were great, I like the weapon customization too. The game just felt so on rails there was no sense of horror to it. The clunkyness of the port also makes the game a bit of a chore to play, even if it wasn't that bad of a story. This felt like a mobile game and in a way thats what it is given its launch console. There are also no mods that significantly improve the experience. All the above is the perspective of a fan of the franchise. If you want an enjoyable entry point to the series, this will most certainly turn you off. The game is old. This game is a bad port of a 14 year old game that did not stand out. Just play the remakes 1-4 and then 7-9. If you like it that much after that then give the old games like this a try. If you REALLY like the resident evil franchise, play it once. If you dont have the patience for old games or are new to the franchise, skip this one until there is a remake if ever. There are plenty of fantastic RE games to play and this is not one of them at the moment.

After finishing Resident Evil 4, I honestly didn't know what to expect. Revelations felt very different from the other games in the series. The biggest strength of the game is definitely its atmosphere. Exploring the Queen Zenobia brought back that classic survival horror feeling with dark corridors, locked doors, and the constant tension of not knowing what was waiting around the next corner. The story... well, that's where I struggled a bit. It was interesting, but it jumped between characters and timelines so often that I was confused more than once. By the end I understood the main idea, but compared to other Resident Evil games, this one was harder to follow. I also enjoyed scanning the environment and searching for every Handprint. Finding all 30 of them became a fun challenge and made exploration rewarding. The bosses were memorable, and seeing Jill back in action was great. While it doesn't reach the level of Resident Evil 4 for me, it's still a solid entry that expands the Resident Evil universe. Rating: 8/10 P.S. Jack Norman looks suspiciously like Walter White. I still can't unsee it. 😂
