I originally did not like Read Dead Redemption. I first completed RDR2, and loved it, and coming to RDR it felt like a huge step down. It's not the prettiest, the horse controls are annoying, and those among other made it hard for me to get into. Due to this, I didn't give it the time of day it deserved. But recently, I picked up the game again, and it really clicked. Although the game is a major graphical downgrade from RDR2, the game world still similarly feels populated and "alive". The characters are interesting, and the story is captivating if you give it a chance. The freedom you have beginning the game is much more limited than RDR2. Upon starting the game, you are blocked off from much of the map. But what you do have access to is still a very large area and there is still much to do within it. This game really is great, I was just spoiled by the once in a lifetime sequel, and didn't give it the attention it deserved.

super fun but the graphic have not aged well but overall one of my best purchese ever on steam somtimes the game lag in th cutsenes but just put your graphic on blanced and it won't lag
A true masterpiece of a game. The main game is simply superb and I could write an essay on its quality. Great gameplay, story, voice acting, varied environments and more. The only real criticism I have for this title is reserved for the expansion Undead Nightmare. It lacks some of the quality of the main game featuring a weak story, heavy recycling of much of the main game and too many fetch quests. However this is still a must play experience.
