About
You are a slugcat. The world around you is full of danger, and you must face it – alone. Separated from your family in a devastating flood, you will need to find food and shelter between terrifying torrential downpours which threaten to drown all life. Climb through the ruins of an ancient civilization, evade the jaws of vicious predators, and discover new lands teeming with strange creatures and buried mysteries. Find your family before something makes a meal of you!
Inspired by the simplicity and aesthetics of 16-bit classics, this survival platformer requires clever decision-making, both to catch your own prey and to avoid the jaws of hungry predators. Each ravenous foe in your path will be cunning, vicious and always on the hunt – eager to sink their teeth into you, or even each other. As a small, soft slugcat you must rely on stealth and wit rather than force: learn the ecosystem and turn their strengths to your advantage. Maybe then you can survive… Rain World!

Literally a buddhist immersive sim. You need to use your brain and try new ideas / game systems. Specially when playing it blind. The learning curve is more like a wall, most wont finish the game 'cause of the difficulty. A map layout with 3 levels of depth that makes it complex to navigate. Really cool lore. Well applied into the world, art and gameplay. Cute slug-guy-fela-cat-pup. A BEAUTIFUL ARTSTYLE (And if you're good enough, you can be the apex on the planet)
Both zen and hard, yet no puzzle Cute and horrifying, yet not edgy A metroidvania with no powerups A roguelike with a fixed map You're the protagonist of a story no one will hear, yet your adventure will never be forgotten It's cruel, unintuitive, random... You're used to it, you've seen how life can be. But this time, you get to rebel against the food chain Put Rain World on your bucket list

The visual style of the game is lovely but the gameplay does not begin to live up to the reputation. The controls feel awkward, and it's inexcusable for a modern game not to have remappable inputs. Further, the bulk of game time is spent traveling through pipes and along ropes that have no danger and minimal difficulty--it feels like you're traveling to the content, but you never get to it.
Really cool atmosphere, and I really want to like it, but this game doesn't respect your time, doesn't respect your progress, and punishes you for playing it. The game has interesting, dynamic controls, and your character will react and adhere to the terrain as you move around. This is good. Everything can kill you. This is also fine, it means you need to learn how to deal with each unique threat so you don't get nuked. There are also some tricky platforming sections. This is also fine, it adds some tension. However, when the cool, dynamic controls mean that the mere act of crouching while standing near a ledge so you can charge the long jump to make it across the gap might make your character instead immediately throw themselves off the edge and make you start the whole day over, that's a problem. Or if your character's dynamic adhesion to the terrain mean that you constantly have to go slow or else risk one of your jumps getting eaten and plummeting to your death, that's a problem. A lot of the enemies are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, which isn't necessarily a problem. Stealth games exist and can be done well. However, when every enemy in the game can one shot you, and almost every enemy in the game can wander around the map and use fast travel points to travel to the room you're in to one shot you, that's a problem. There are big doors throughout the game that lead to new zones, that you can only enter by surviving for at least 2, 3, 4, 5 days in a row. This is an interesting mechanic because it means you have to be careful and learn where to find food and how to survive the enemies in your current zone before you can move on. However, entering one of these huge progression doors doesn't give you any kind of checkpoint, so if after spending 3 days in your current zone being really careful to scavenge enough and avoid enemies, you enter the big door but you don't find a safe zone and enough food to survive in this entirely new zone by the end of the day, you die and wake back behind the big progress door, but now with 1 less "days survived in a row". So to even get the chance to go back through the big door into the new zone again, you now have to waste another day ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in the zone you're trying to leave. And if while you're doing that, you happen to die to a literal invisible chameleon that can paralyze you from 1/3 of the entire screen away, you're now going to have to waste two full days ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ around in the zone you're trying to leave before you can even attempt to go to the new zone again. Hard games, and games that punish you for failure can be done well. Rain World takes that a step further, and punishes you for progressing.
