BEST DETECTIVE XCOM LIKE ON THE MARKET!
Good game, although a bit rough around the edge. If you are a fan of XCOM and are looking for something similar-ish, this game is worth a try despite it's flaws.
"Do you eckshpect me to talk?" Nooo, Mr. Bond! I expect you to stare at a bulletin board for 20 minutes!

i got this game for half or more than half off, and for that i feel it's a decent game for a dollhouse version of espionage. i was having a hard time falling asleep one evening and this was the very chill, turn based, save scum friendly bedtime story i needed to send me off. whoever said spy action should be accompanied by muted trumpets, light piano, and murmuring baritones is a genius and there's a whole lot of it happening. to keep that sweet thing going though, just be sure to play the game the correct way and avoid getting caught and setting off alarms, something they didn't emphasize enough in the tutorial. otw you'd be assaulted by a flood of noisy action music and endless enemy reinforcements that will very quickly and frustratingly eat into your operating costs especially before you've spent some time growing that slush fund. my only wish would be to have the detective keyword matching game not hand us the answers so readily and it may have felt more sufficiently spylike. i guess most players giving bad reviews paid full price because the irritating difficulty isn't really there unless you play extremely recklessly, which you can certainly do, just not right away. but also complaining about the game being bland and flat feels misplaced talking about a turn based spy game. we're talking about a job already rooted in subtleties and hidden intrigue and limiting it further by withholding real time. you can't be coming into this wo an active imagination
This is the best example of XCom-like mechanics I've ever seen. I am addicted. How much do I like this? I literally beat the game, turned right back around and started a new campaign immediately to experience the whole thing from another perspective. Some especially good bits:

The "whoops, 90% chance to hit is a whiff" from X-Com 2 is gone.
Collecting in-world resources matters to the overall campaign - AND to me. It's way more exciting to pick up loot in-mission, because you come out with an awesome weapon/armor or more stuff to make red strings with.
The base-building component is handled through missions, so you never have that "oh, I ruined this whole campaign 5 missions ago when I didn't allocate correctly."
The story seems mid at first, but it's only because it's so intricate. By the second playthrough, when I could recognize all the players, it just gets more and more interesting.
This is definitely a game that rewards familiarity and multiple playthroughs. Highly recommend if you enjoy the XCom formula - they are doing it the best. I have anxiety, does this have jump scares, etc?
Nope, nothing like that at all. Some of the sequences with the brainwashing/MK Ultra program are disturbing, but nothing gorey or violent is shown. It's just conceptually a bit icky. Hasn't stopped me from loving the game.

this game is an underrated gem of turn-based stealth spy game that takes place during cold war. the mechanics are pretty good and it punishes you a lot for breaking stealth and go guns blazing without shoving a bunch of words and warning signs. the game has a fun customization system where you can dress your agents (playable character in-game) and change their passport to reduce their spy identity exposure for a price as a punishment for breaking stealth. the loadout system is pretty good with decent gun customization. there is a base-building mechanic to expand the capability of your spy organization, move base to different country to avoid enemy attacks to your spy base, and resource management sim where lack of funds means whether you can move to different country or risking your agents identity breach. it's just spy organization management sim mixed with turn-based stealth combat that's hit the right spot. the downside in this game is that although the mission objective is clear, the map is randomized with rng-style slight tweak to the map layout and the interaction you have to do in the map mission is up to the rng without proper explanation in the briefing mode, so you're up to guess whether you bring a lot of guns and armor that break stealth or minimal armor and gear that will get you killed when you realized that guns-blazing is unavoidable. moreover the story is kinda meh and the replayability value is pretty low since once you finish the game, the story feels kinda dull and boring in your second playthrough. in addition, you can play as a CIA officer or KGB officer, although the developer told there will be differences in storyline, I see barely any different between those two. overall, I would give this 7/10 for a hidden gem with slight lack of features and dull story. buy this game if it's on sale and don't buy at full price
Very Good game i liked it nice vibe of cold war
