The year is 1983. The world teeters on the verge of destruction as the Cold War tightens its icy grip. East or West: trust no one, question everything. The fate of humanity rests in your hands as you pit spy versus spy in tactical Phantom Doctrine.

amazing game, love the vibe.
character creation shows that this is DEI ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.. so I'm not holding my breath for this game! I then go to all the effort of customisng my character and the game starts you with some random guy! morons! then you are told to move the chracter which you do twice without issue, yet the third time it will not move! but you can finally get it to somehow 'work'.. after right and left clicking all the while somehow NOT lining up the 'arrows'.. it's absolutely pathetic. and not a reflection of what happens in the actual game play. it shows how pathetic these devs are that they cant even get the tute right. then there is this random 'investigation board'.. it's just a horrendous RNG jumble of words to 'match' for supposed clues, and even when you pick up 'intel' on a random mission, it doesnt always add anything to the desk.. so whats the point of picking them up?!?! and even before that, when you're prep'ing a mission, you're told the agents you sent to investigate are the ones infiltrating, but when you're put in the mission some random agents show up (generally the protagonist being one of them)... then when you're hiding your agents and someone somehow spots you! behind a stack of crates or boxes or even a wall! there is no indication of LoS other than the ridiculous red squares (do they have infrared goggles!!).. and even worse is the pathing indicates it'll avoid LoS (red sqaures) but then violates the 'rule".. and since when are a couple of cops and some guards, considered "the cell leadership"?? the missions are completely bogus and mindnumbingly boringly repetitive! but the absolute stupidity on the devs part, claiming that you have to have "more HP" than the enemy to knock it out!?! what is a blackjack??! completely moronic! and whats with all the smashing through windows (ALL the time!) and that not being 'suspicious'?!? honestly one of the stupidest games I've played for 'infiltration' type games in my life. but just to mention the most annoying 'idea' these moronic devs had, the completely idiotic 'banter' when you click on a character.. one in particular with his '♥♥♥♥ off' attitude.. and just to add to the many annoying features of this game is the fact that you cant reduce 'danger' (by eliminating agents, uncovering cells, etc). it just goes to show how pathetic these devs really are.. all they are interested in is having you spend money unnecessarily to keep you poor in order to add 'a sense of excitement and chase' into what is really a very boring game.. they are really clueless and insulting to your intelligence. dont give them your money

A hidden gem. It's kind of like XCOM but with spies. You manage a spy network, sending agents around the world to uncover secrets and fend off other spy agencies. There's also a fun minigame where you piece together clues on a corkboard. I have no idea why this game went unnoticed. I'm having a blast with it!
Why the hell is there a bunch of M1 Abrams and a Bradley parked at a Pakistani reactor / weapons facility in 1983?
Like X-Com, but a slightly different genre. Nicely paced. The secret files investigation works well. Excellent value.
Phantom Doctrine Phantom Doctrine is slow, methodical, and unapologetically cerebral — and that’s exactly why it works. This is a stealth game about preparation, intelligence, and control. You choose your fights, shape the battlefield, and often succeed by not pulling the trigger at all. The MKULTRA systems and sleeper agents aren’t gimmicks; they’re tools that let you solve problems creatively instead of violently. It never rushes you. It never forces spectacle. It lets you think — and then live with the consequences of your thinking. Not flashy, not loud, but deeply respectful of the player. One of the most satisfying tactical stealth experiences I’ve finished.
Spy XCOM with a Conspiracy Board whose novelty wears off during your 3rd playthrough. Worth 3 playthroughs.

The Good: Good tactical turn based spy game set in the Cold War. Mixture between the old UFO: Enemy Unknown, XCom and Jagged Alliance with according nice mechanics. Often cool atmosphere and a solid story about a grand conspiracy. The Bad: The game does not run stable on a new and swift computer though. Especially when trying to make some scrren recordings it often crashes with blue screen of death. The Ugly: Nothing particulary. All in all a recommendation.
Janky glitch-fest that is only average, at best, when it does work.
