Cinematic spin on the turn-based genre – Predict enemy movements, orchestrate precisely timed countermeasures, and hit “execute” to watch the physics-based action unfold in real time.
Extensive customization – Featuring a rich customization system, Phantom Brigade enables you to fine-tune the performance of your mechs, install a wide selection of equipment, and access a wealth of cosmetic options. Prepare your squad for any challenge - in style.
An expansive arsenal – Railguns, beam weapons, missiles, energy swords, and more! Rain destruction down upon your homeland’s invaders with weaponry salvaged from each enemy mech you defeat.
Strategic tactical combat – Make high-level tactical decisions on the world map, manage your mobile base, and decide how to apply your limited resources. Take command of your squad in varied missions ranging from sabotage of enemy equipment and convoy ambushes to liberation battles and challenging outpost onslaughts.
Destructible environments – It's not a proper game about giant mechs without destructible buildings! Phantom Brigade allows every square meter of each battle map to be destroyed. Shatter your enemy’s cover and collapse buildings on top of them!

This is why I play on PC. 9.5/10 game from a smaller studio. It's mechs and there's melee combat. If you're thinking about getting it, you should.
I would give this game a hell yes. I would put this in my top 10 as simply fun to play. I really enjoy these plan and execute games. This one is slightly different than most as it will give detailed info on the enemy's upcoming actions. It is fun being able to use one mech to distract and have the other jump up on a building and shoot the enemy in the back. Or have a sniper in the back spamming heat block cooling to be able to put down a volume of fire. Or another is to have a heavy mech with a shield and bash enemy mechs into buildings to make them take front and back damage. Heck, with certain equipment you can use your thruster to bust straight through a building to flank an enemy. There are pilot perks, different kinds of weapons that can have mods slotted on them, choice of reactors and different types of available slots for different manufacture and part types. Basically you can build your mech out however you like. I came back to the game because even years after the release they created a 2.0 version which changed quite a bit about the game. One thing that most of the community has asked for is a full battle replay. And they delivered! It must be enabled in the experimental settings on the main menu. It is amazing to finally be able to see the full battle from start to finish. It is fantastic. I backed the original EGS exclusive from way back in the day, so I have 150 hours more than my playtime on Steam. The reason why I have both Steam and EGS versions is that I wanted to make some Workshop mods, and it was a good way to support the devs for making 2.0. Would recommend =)
It took a while to get warm with this game, but once you get the core game mechanics, it's really cool and fun to play! The only thing I find a bit disappointing is that the mech design is rather generic. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend trying it.
Weapon ranges are ridiculously small. Not something I can force myself to ignore.
TL:DR - Just buy it, you won't regret every cent. Whether you are a fan of Gundam franchise or western mech. I normally don't like the design of Western mechs (MechWarrior-kind or Boxy-kind), no offense. I have tried for MechWarrior 5 : mercenaries and BattleTech (2018) but they not strike my need. At first, this game also give me the same impression. But when I see that the mech in this game is holding a weapon instead of registered as part of the mech themselves, oh boy, I knew it will be my kind of western mech game. And it sure did. Excluding the design, the gameplay is quite satisfying, both cinematography of the movement and heavy hitting-feels when whatever is going downhill from both side is somehow weirdly (in a good way) satisfy as well. Plus, you can rise the pilot to be what you want them to be is quite of what I need for my personal head canon-venting. Sorry for the gibberish. What I want to say that despite the story may not that attractive but it's good (once again, no offense), but being as that, you can create your own pilot, your own mech and mobilize your brigade as special unit or some kind of secret organization maybe something that a man-child like me want the most in this economy. I would say it again JUST BUY IT, YOU WON'T DISAPPOINTED IN EVRY BIT YOU SPENT.
By far one of the most enjoyable games I've played in several years. The "turn based" spin on the genre reminds me of the nemesis system from The Shadow Of Mordor, something that was groundbreaking and I'd love to see more of in other games. Not sure how this one slipped by me, but I'm loving my Gundam/Code Geass storyline, the salvaging guerilla tactics and scrapping by in these absolute brilliant mech fights make for an enjoyable experience. I'll relay a turn just to watch my mech bulldoze through a 4 story building coming out the other side slamming into the enemy mech. I just want more of the same thing, release some DLC with more customizability and complexity. 10/10 love the game.
I used too play this game a while ago and came back for the 2.0 update wanting too see what's changed. While I've found myself enjoying the some of the changes too the tactical side of the game, especially the behemoth boss fights, the changes made too the strategic side of the game have complelty shifted the tone of the game. I no longer feel like the commander of a guerilla cell trying too retake my homeland through conducting hit and run opperations against carefully chosen targets too weaken the enemy for an eventual Offensive by the Homeguard. Going out of my way to assist the local population and managing the various interpesonal relationships and conflicts my pilots had with eachother like I did before 2.0. All the old events, mini story arc's, fixed points of intrest and open sandbox were removed in favor of a brutal timer that punishes you if you take too long, randomly spawning POI's that don't really seem to matter beyond the fact that it makes the Liberation score go up by varying amounts and a linear FTL style sector select screen. These changes too the strategic layer of the game (Effectively gutting it completly) make me feel less like a Fryland Guerilla Commander fighting too free his country and more like I'm the spearhead of the Kaskad Dominion's invasion force fighting over locations whose importance I am completely ignorant of but still fighting and dying there, not because I chose too do so but because Dominion Command has orderd me too spend the lives of my pilots and spill enemy blood there, seemingly for no reason beyond that the enemy happens too be there at the moment. And as I now have effectively no interaction with them, I find myself also completely uncaring of the civilians of this country beyond the fact that my command gets mad at me if I kill too many of them when they happen too be in the latest arena chosen by command for my men too kill and die inside of. It feels like I'm no longer fighting too free a nation, instead it feels like I'm now spearheading an invasion force conquering some hapless country because my nations leaders insist they must be conquered for reasons they didn't care too name, having been given command of a collection of nearly faceless and nameless grunts that might as well have been replaced by drones for all I care about them. I no longer fight for Honor, the Country or the people, I now merely kill what I've been instructed and payed too, nothing more then that.
Overall great game, wished there was more. This game made me hate the typical Turn-based mechanic where luck can play a huge part in the outcome of each turn, no matter how good your strategy is. In this game however, your strategy dictates the outcome. I like the customizations you are able to do with each mechs and pilots. You can mix and match parts and whatever you decided to put on your mech defines its role. While you can build a mech into a specialized role, you are free to diversify. Pilot skills add another flavor to the gameplay of the mech making gameplay quite different for each mech. The Campaign is okay. It's as linear as it can get. Go point to point, clear hostiles, get better gear, defeat boss at the end and repeat. The gameplay loop is good, would love to have variations on it though. Like for boss encounters, while they have different builds and armaments, the way you defeat them stay the same. This might be okay for the endless mode but for the campaign i was expecting more variations like that one boss with the 3 towers towards the end. Mission Variation also lacking. Different map but same gameplay. (i.e. would like to have a defend mission on a city like the ones we have on a patrol encounter.) I never felt like adjusting my gameplay because i needed to but only because i wanted to. The Briefing section - It would be nice if I was able to use it to setup where i want my Mechs deployed. Workshop Wishful concept - While modules are great to modify weapons, I would like to have a deeper weapon customization. Maybe we can have a base mold like a sniper rifle with a set range and base stats but then we can tweak what kind of ammo is used (Concussive, Burn etc.), how many bullets per shot, maybe a slider of how much heat it generates, more heat = more damage. Something like this that can be done in the workshop once a weapon is reverse engineered. The same thing goes for the other mech parts and mech body. Will the base mech body prioritize heat dissipation or heat threshold, better power distribution for speed or thrusters, better barrier regeneration or harder plating. For mech parts, the more modules you install the heavier it gets.
