About
From Obsidian, this game is a historical narrative-driven game focusing on character development, heavily stylized art, and choice-driven storytelling in early 16th century Bavaria. Players will play as Andreas Maler, a clever illustrator caught up in a series of murders in Tassing and Kiersau Abbey over the course of twenty five years. Players will be responsible for conducting their own investigation to decide the fate of the community, but each decision will have lasting consequences and inexorably draws Andreas closer to the center of an underlying conspiracy.
Experience 16th century Europe as the master artists of the time saw them. Art inspired by great illuminated manuscripts and the earliest printed books becomes a living, breathing world in Pentiment.
Choose different academic and social backgrounds and meet a colorful cast of characters as you discover the stories and secrets that lie within the small Bavarian town of Tassing and nearby Keirsau Abbey.
In an era of great religious and political change, each decision you make can have a profound impact on the community’s future. Find your own way through this turbulent time and see the consequences of your choices play out over generations.

I love the art style and the humor. Great story too.

go discuss transubstantiation in the forest at night with a romani heretic. do it.
fantastic little rpg that beautifully, through its inspired and meticulous artstyle and music, completely immerses you in the rich tapestry of a medieval world on the cusp of change while still stringing you along tightly through a tense murder thriller. Underrated gem.
A fantastic game in every way imaginable, perhaps the way the journal works is the only thing that was genuinely bad about the game. I really hate myself for not being able to play this game for hours on end, my brain has been corrupted by all the shortform brainrot content. But what a breath of fresh air in the gaming industry, thank you Josh Sawyer and thanks Feargus for allowing him to work on this gem.
在塔兴,仍有太多的故事有待讲述
As someone who loves medieval and early modern history, Pentiment is one of the best historical games I've ever played. Set in the early 16th century during the late Renaissance and the Protestant Reformation, it brilliantly captures the lives of ordinary people rather than just focusing on kings and wars. The game does an amazing job portraying the tensions between the clergy, the nobility, and the common folk, making the social and religious changes of the era feel real and personal. While some aspects are understandably simplified for gameplay, the world, characters, art, and historical atmosphere are incredibly authentic. If you're a history enthusiast, especially interested in the Reformation or everyday life in this period, Pentiment is an absolute must-play.
Stat Rosa pristina nomine, nomina nuda tenemus.
Amazing game, story, with a rich immersive world. I stopped my first playthrough at the end of Act 2 because I was disappointed by some of my choices, but upon restarting a few years later I now realize that all choices are correct in this game and the whole point is no matter what you do nothing will ever be perfect. I can't recommend it enough to people who like to read and immerse themselves in a story, as well as anyone interested in late medieval history.
