А найсумніше — що нічого з цього не можна прокачати. [h3] Досягнення [/h3] На мою думку, якщо вже додавати стільки досягнень, то мало б бути й відповідне наповнення гри. Проте цього немає. Гра відчувається пустою та короткою і не викликає захоплення чи бажання досліджувати. На кожного йотуна припадає по 5–6 досягнень, що виглядає як штучне нарощування перебування у грі, багато хто з розробників так робить, але тут конкретно нагліють. Game with beautiful graphics and top view. The soundtrack is also excellent. The gameplay is repetitive but the bosses are downright difficult and if you love a bit of a challenge then this game is for you. Recommended 8/10 my rating

[h1]Visuals aren't everything[/h1] The art is amazing. The soundtrack hits just right. The native Icelandic spoken within the game is such a nice touch. The scenery is beautiful and diverse and my god do they present Norse mythology so well. Not only is the depiction of Jotunns really creative, but it presents the idea of different realms so elegantly. Each Jotunn is tied to their respective realm, and before you get to fight said Jotunn, the game will give you a bit of your character's backstory, whilst briefly describing whichever realm you're currently in. All of this is great, but the game severely lacks when it comes to gameplay. While the exploring and puzzle bits of the game you do before each boss fight are... serviceable at best, the main aspect of the game, that being the bosses, are just not fun to fight for the most part. Some bosses could greatly benefit from the game having a better movement/combat system. The biggest problem with the movement, is that it's unbelievably slow. the combat isn't much different. It's slow and generally unsatisfying. While performing a regular attack, you can't move for about 0.5 seconds and if you charge your attack up, you won't be able to move for a good 2-3 seconds. Neither the movement nor the combat feels fun to engage with. If the game had overall faster movement and a combat system where your movement speed decreases whilst attacking rather than coming to a complete halt, then i'd argue that the game would be infinitely more fun, and could potentially turn my negative review into a positive one. It's such a shame too, because most of the bosses have fun gimmicks and the passion that was put into this game is very evident. But despite that, I just can't recommend this game. The controls make it way too frustrating and in a game that's (for the most part) about killing bosses? That's a pretty big dealbreaker.

A beautiful canvas that’s a chore to play. Not Recommended Jotun: Valhalla Edition is one of the most visually stunning games I have ever seen. The hand-drawn art is breathtaking, the scale of the bosses is awe-inspiring, and the authentic Icelandic voice acting creates an atmosphere that is second to none. Unfortunately, once you stop staring at the scenery and actually start playing, the experience falls apart. The Frustrations: Glacial Pacing: There is no sprint button. You will spend roughly 70% of your time slowly walking across massive, beautiful, and completely empty levels just to find a single power-up or switch. It feels less like an epic journey and more like a tedious commute. Clunky Combat: Your character, Thora, moves like she’s wading through honey. The heavy attack has such a massive wind-up that it’s often unusable, and the dodge lacks the responsiveness needed for a game that demands precision. Difficulty Whiplash: The game alternates between brain-dead simple exploration and punishingly difficult boss fights. The bosses aren't hard because of complex mechanics; they’re hard because they are sponges with massive hitboxes and telegraphed attacks that turn every fight into a repetitive test of patience rather than skill. The "Lost" Factor: The in-game map is intentionally obscure and doesn't show your location. While "immersive" in theory, in practice it just leads to more backtracking through those empty, slow-walking corridors. If you want to appreciate the art, watch a "No Commentary" playthrough on YouTube. As a game, it’s a slog that doesn't respect the player's time.
An interesting way to learn about mythology. 1 hour in and the gameplay is a bit dry though.
