If you were born in the '90s or love everything retro, then I think you'll like this game! Great theme and overall vibes!
Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 90's ist der Nachfolger des ersten Teils, Escape from the 80's. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
English: ------------------------------> Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 90's is the successor to the first part, Escape from the 80's. Just like its predecessor, this game is an escaperoom with a funny little story. Once again we embody a detective who has given in to the supernatural. This time we investigate the case of a missing girl. She seems to have been last seen in the mall's arcade. .. Unlike in the first part, there are many small mini-games to solve here alongside the sometimes tricky puzzles. Because our investigation leads us to this very arcade, of course. Just like in the first part, the humor is kept high and there are many references to the 90s. Unfortunately, we can only move by teleport, a free movement would please me better, especially since the hall is not that big, incl. side rooms. It is also a pity that we, as index users, still have to reach with the trigger key and not with the grab function. Since we enter the arcade in the middle of the night, it is of course very dark, a bit too dark for my taste. For example, I didn't even see the cabinet doors where a safe is located. The graphics are kept simple and simple and fit to the 90s. Unfortunately, most textures are also very blurry like in the 90s. This looks very unattractive on the arcade machines. The usable buttons on the machines are especially bad to see. They click only very quietly and with the in-game music (Syntrock, of course) barely audible. A clearer animation of the buttons would also be helpful. They only move minimally. All in all, Paranormal Detective:Esccape from the 90's is a worthy successor, which doesn't quite reach the first one, but can make you smile and ponder. Especially the reward at the end of the game is again adorable. 👀More escapes from time on my curator page. 👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑

Follow Main group
Follow Second group
Awesome sequel! Played the original 80s game and loved it, but I might even like this one quite a bit better! It feels that overall a lot of potential that I saw in the first one was developed really well in this 90s sequel. The game took me about 3 hours to complete and I’m looking forward to the arcade only mode! PROs: 1) Another fun story with a bit more depth this time (would love the next one to go even deeper). 2) Great controls. 3) Amazing arcade atmosphere - it looks really cool in there and the games are super fun! 4) Excellent puzzles and great in game hint system (what an awesome psychic) 5) The ending was so weird, it definitely lived up to its prequel! CONs: 1) I'm a big air hockey fan, so I would love if they improved the AI for the arcade only mode. 2) I feel like it would add a lot to the authenticity of the game if you could carry objects in both hands. 3) It would be nice to be able to control the volume of the music Overall none of these are deal breakers for me. It's a great game. If you love the 90s, arcades, and/or escape rooms, give it a shot and buy it! Definitely worth the money.
Super fun game, I loved the arcade tasks and finding pogs. So nice to spend some time in the 90's :-)
I never played any of the LunaBeat Games before, so I went into this with no real experience or expectations in mind. All I knew was: it's an escape room VR game set in a 90's Arcade. I'm not the best at puzzles, but I'm so glad I played this game!! This game is an absolute blast. They nailed the 90's vibe to a T. If you're in your late 20's - early 30's, you basically load into what was likely your childhood room. :) Everything in this game is designed to be as hands-on as possible, meaning no menus other than the bare minimum basics in the smartphone, which makes it incredibly immersive. You start in your Detective's Office and are immediately treated to a wealth of goodies; clues, puzzle pieces, and a healthy dose of excellent humor that will have you rolling in stitches by the time you reach the end of the game!! Seriously, this game doesn't take itself too seriously and just decided to have ALL THE FUN, and you're along for the ride!! What a privilege!! There are tons of little Easter eggs and references that you're bound to enjoy. :D I had a fantastic time playing the various available Arcade games (and cheating some of them) while solving the puzzles as I went along. I had some feedback for the devs, which included using locomotion for movement (it's teleport only at the time I'm writing this), and enabling background music volume control and subtitles to help with auditory processing issues and hearing issues. They're wonderful people who took it to heart and put these on their to-do list. An Arcade-only mode is coming in the near future and they would love to do so much more with this game, like looking into multiplayer if it's a viable goal to achieve in the future, and more! A LOT of love went into this game (which looks like it's going to become its own entire series if I'm not mistaken, but don't quote me on that :D) and it really, really shows. Look, for this price, do yourself a favor and get this game if you like VR, silliness, the occasional really creepy vibe, 90's stuff, and Arcade games. Don't even worry about the puzzling aspects, as long as you explore everything and make use of the hints, you are able to solve them. I am absolutely going to buy this game for friends. This is now a must-play in my list of recommended VR games. I have yet to play its predecessor, but I bought it immediately after playing this one because I need more of this!
As a fairly new gamer to the world of VR and
evil robots
I stepped into Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 90s very excited to solve puzzles and get my hands on some retro arcade action, and it did not disappoint. This game is immersive and has more easter eggs than the bunny itself. It's a solid mental workout, with the hint system well implemented that it can steer you in the right direction without giving you the answer or leaving you feeling unsatisfied for requesting a hint. Not that I had to use this though because I'm sooo smart 👀 The developers are super passionate and awesomely fun, and you see this reflected throughout the game. As a fan of escape rooms and arcades, it's hard not to fall in love with this experience and then want more when it's over. Bring on Escape from the 00s. 😎 Played through live on Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1276089292
Loved playing the first 80's game of Paranormal Detective and even more the 90's sequel as these were my teenage years (you did not read that, forget it, quick!) which are more clear in my memory. Really enjoyed all the little hints to series, movies and all other details of that time period and the overall environment in a 90's style. The game is playable on a Valve Index and takes, of course always depending how good you are in riddle solving, I'd say between 2-3 hours. But there is also an Arcade mode upcoming so that after playing the "story mode" you can revisit the Arcade for your entertainment. So yes, worth the price. Get it if you love riddles, or 90's, or both! A very sweet and funny game where you can see and feel the love of the devs to their baby in every corner :).
Really enjoyed the game, even though its an escape game I spent most of my time messing around and forgot I was meant to be saving a girl from nexus, my bad "). Devs are super helpful if you need any help or find a issue. Little disappointed I've finished the game, was hoping to find another case to solve in my office, looks like I have to get a real job, look forward to the next game. Its fun being a detective bit like in the exorcist VR game but this is less scary and no coffee machine. Played on The Rift S, Ryzen 7 3800X, 6800XT, 32 GB Ram, win 10 64, no problems.
Cute game! Very cool sense of humor and art. Nice escape room mechanics puzzles :) If I could change anything I would add smooth locomotion and polish some of the hand interactions (button clicks, sounds, that kind of stuff) Great game! Congrats to the devs :)
Gameplay and Features
This is the sequel for Paranormal Detective: Escape from the 80s, a game which I reviewed very negatively, even going as far as blaming it for the bad fame of Virtual Reality in the minds of people. So, did it improve from the first game? The first one was published in 2019, this one in 2022, so three years later. Half-Life: Alyx was already out and many other good VR games (e.g. Into The Radius) have been successful, providing solid standards for VR game developers to follow. Did this game improve? Yes. Now it has options. Which options? Only related to locomotion: now you have smooth turning and smooth locomotion, even with speed settings. Nice! Oops. Smooth locomotion works but has no strafing? Instead of walking around like a normal person, you walk like you're driving a car or stranded in a wheelchair? And still, no graphical options at all. Nothing to help immersion. No shadows, no effects, no improved textures, nothing. And no accessibility options either, which for a physical VR game it's nigh an evil thing to do. What about the gameplay? Nothing seems to have changed. The interaction with the objects is still terrible. No pouring coffee on mugs, no eating of candies, the magnifying glass still doesn't magnify, the cellphone keeps dropping, the bounding boxes of objects are still misaligned, you still don't have a crouch button. I know this game is about being stranded in a time capsule, but had the developers mimic being stuck in the past for programming it? Please, watch my struggling with the game on this short gameplay: https://youtu.be/5buqdm7pDhU How can one learn so little? As for the puzzles, they still seem very badly created, with some moon logic and the hints don't help a lot.
Linux Compatibility
This title is a bit better than the first one. It works correctly with Proton 9.0-4 (the latest stable proton at this time), not needing Proton-GE for microsoft foundation classes. However, it still doesn't start with WiVRn on my Meta Quest 3, same thing as the first title: starts in VR but continues on the monitor in an unresponsive way. It works with ALVR and Steam Link though, so it's playable.
