I love this game!!! And I love the 80's <3 That yearbook would be the same date as mine :-D TOTALLY AWESOME
Gameplay and Features
It is disturbing to think that this game was out in the same year as the Valve Index (2019), and one year before Half-Life: Alyx. For someone to consider this a viable commercial product, one must be really desperate. Seriously. Try and do a steam search for tags VR + escape room + free to play; you'll find at least half a dozen titles with better controls, better graphics, better story, better gameplay, better puzzles and even better production value. The game has no settings and it only allows teleport locomotion (at least it's not node-based) and snap turning with fading. It's terrible for videos, so much that to record one I had to resort to turning physically as to not become too uncanny. You can see my gameplay here: https://youtu.be/FNRiRugKwZo Just to remind that a VR game is quite physical, and not having accessibility options is something that's very wrong to do. The way to interact with most things in the game is via a cellphone which you often drop in the floor and, of course, the game doesn't have a crouch button, so you need to fight the game to get it back. Oh, also, the collision boxes are terribly misaligned, to you will struggle to interact with objects like the cellphone and you can easily lose it in an unreachable corner, becoming stuck. You can "grab" some objects in the scenario but most are completely inert. You can't pour coffee on the coffee mug. You can't scribble on the paper objects. You can't eat the candies. Even the magnifying glass only uses a gray translucent filter and doesn't magnify anything. This is one of these games that give VR a bad fame of mobile-quality gimmicky games that have no entertainment value.
Linux Compatibility
I played this game on Linux using a Meta Quest 3. It doesn't work with the streaming software WiVRn, which hints to it having programming bugs; it starts in VR but continues unresponsive on the flatscreen. However, fortunately it works with other streaming software -- ALVR and Steam Link. It also does not work with regular proton because it needs microsoft foundation classes media player for the cellphone to be responsive. This is resolved by using GE-Proton. Iv'e used GE-Proton10-20 at this current time to play it.
I had downloaded this game without much expectation, mostly because we never have enough interesting games to play on VR. We started it, along with the one set in the 90's, then we somehow grew tired of it, possibly because we were stuck and because back then a cable was required to run Steam VR. We decided to give it a second chance and I am SO GLAD we did! As soon as we passed the moment where we were previously struggling, the game started to be more intense, with some creepy moments (not creepy, but I get easily scared by dark rooms and dolls/plushes lurking in the dark). Well, what a blast! There was even an unexpected plot twist at the end, end when we thought it couldn't get any better, the game "changed", revealing many surprises. We were so happy to reach the end, super fun! It ran smoothly, the visual quality was very good and movements/physics were legit. I definitely recommend this chapter and I will give a second chance to the 90's chapter too :) Congrats, hope you'll release more games like this!
Short but made with love, worth it.
Hey I signed up for the authentic 80s experience & i got some guy with weird hair and a shell suit stalking me ... ....Wait! No well done that is spot on!! fun escape room I remember those speak n spell things except i noticed that when i type in profanity it doesnt switch to caps like ours, then it would glow red and scream that our souls would burn in the fiery Nexis of left handed dyslexics, now that i thinkk about it ours was possessed by A 1940s english teacher .yep nevermind ...nostalgic! love the mini games shame they dont unlock to play from title after completion, would add a bit more replay incentive!
Very fun escape room like game with 80s vibes. LOVED IT!
This is the worst thing I have ever seen
A small, but excellent VR adventure sprinkled with some nostalgia. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the cheesiness of it all. I did use a guide, but the exploration was fun. I always enjoy games like this from small developers who really spend the time to create something unique.
Przyjemna gra typu escape room z elementami hidden object. 8/10
Pretty good VR Escape Room with heavy nostalgia vibes. Decent puzzles, smooth in-game hint system. Takes 1-2 hours to complete. Works on Reverb G2.
