10/10 | A Brutal, Beautiful Adventure That Refuses to Hold Your Hand Outward is one of the few RPGs that made me feel like a real adventurer instead of a chosen one wrapped in plot armor. Most games tell you you're a hero. Outward hands you a backpack, points vaguely toward the horizon, and says, "Good luck. Try not to freeze to death." Every journey feels earned. Every victory feels personal. You don't win because you're the Dragonborn, the Savior, or some ancient prophecy. You win because you prepared. You packed enough food. You remembered your bandages. You paid attention to the weather. And when you finally survive a fight that nearly killed you three times, it feels incredible. The world is unforgiving, but that's exactly what makes it memorable. Getting lost in the wilderness, stumbling into enemies far stronger than you, desperately trying to make it back to town with barely any health left... those moments create stories that scripted quests never could. The co-op experience is also something special. Few games capture the feeling of two exhausted adventurers limping back to camp after a disaster, laughing at how badly everything went wrong. Some of my favorite gaming memories came from Outward's chaos. What makes the game truly stand out is that it respects the player. It doesn't flood your map with markers or constantly tell you where to go. Exploration feels genuine. Discovery feels rewarding. Success feels deserved. It's rough around the edges sometimes, but those rough edges are part of its identity. Beneath them is one of the most unique RPG experiences ever made. 10/10. Not because it's perfect, but because no other game delivers the same feeling of adventure. And now, I'm counting the days until Outward 2 arrives. Everything I've seen suggests it's keeping the soul of the original while improving combat, immersion, world design, and character progression and I genuinely haven't been this excited for an RPG in years. If Outward was a weathered adventurer's journal filled with scars, bad decisions, and unforgettable stories, Outward 2 looks ready to become the next chapter. Backpack packed. Waterskin filled. I'm ready to get absolutely destroyed by Aurai all over again. ⚔️🔥🌲
This game is unfortunately underrated. I think many players are turned away by the front-loaded difficulty and learning curve. Grab a friend (or multiple via modding) and jump in together. If you can stick to it for a few hours, it will start to click. The combat, the skill system, the itemization, and the world overall are all unique and interesting. The character creator is pretty bad, but it's still kind of charming, and by my experience with the beta, it is greatly improved in Outward 2.
this game is fun if you like having your balls stomped on over and over again, so yeah it's pretty fun
Do not buy this game, if you want to progress with another player. Its not possible to have the same progress at the same time. Only the host will have the important progress rewards, like joining a faction or skills. If you want to enjoy a coop game find a good one and not this crap. Its not worth a dollar!
bruder ich kapier nichts aber is geil. muss man dranbleiben.
One of the worst game i have played
Outward is a game that does not respect it's players. Plain and simple. Example: - You find an enemy that looks tough. - You approach said enemy. - Enemy re-arranges your organs. - You think it's fine because at least you've learned how the enemy works now, you'll beat it next time. - NOPE, GET OUTWARDED. - You get teleported to a random place. - Follow the cursor Skyrim style until you find your bag (why even take it away if it's never a challenge to take it back?) - Take a minute of inventory rummaging to heal yourself. - Take another several minutes pressing W to reach whatever place you where before so you can get a second try. This is just a single common instance you'll find in this game, but this "design" permeates the whole experience. The game basically expects of you to either: A) Waste literal hours of your time into a "trial and error" so time consuming it makes MMO's blush. B) Skip said "trial and error" once you lost your patience and go online for someone who already did the trial and error. And at least if after either of these ones you found yourself in a point where the game became enjoyable, it could give it a pass as a rough experience. But the thing is IT GETS WORSE. Because once you understand what the game asks, you realize ALL COMBAT boils down to cheesing down enemies and 90% of NON-COMBAT is just pressing W to move in between locations. And this is without going into the GAME BREAKING BUGS, the PS2 era look in 2022, the abysmal customization and VA SO BAD it made me disable voices entirely. Yet they will ask you $40 for it. Shameless.
This game is horrible, the combat is clunky, the graphics are horrible and did i mention combat sucks?
