The crew of a cargo ship arrives at what appears to be an abandoned space station. Power appears to be there, but no one is responding to their radio messages. A pixel art point & click adventure with an exciting story and lots of humor.

Almost 15$ is insane and no where near worth it!!!! Developer: I know you must have put a lot of time and effort into it and yes its your baby, but your baby is like the ceiling crawling abomination from Trainspotting (movie). Shame yourself to ask this amount of money from potential buyers. Just look at your competitor developers and their games in the 15$ price range and maybe reevaluate your product. Honestly: be happy if someone is willing to invest his valuable lifetime to play this Orbital Cargo, even for free. Thank god there are key sellers. Anyways: - Voice over sounds like he asked his family and friends to do it. - Boring adventure game style, if you try to combine items with objects (for the sake of fun) and all you get is "nothing happened". Be creative man! Even if it takes more time. Even if you don´t get desired Kickstarter money for it. Even if you have to make the game for free, rather strive to make a good one and the community will remember and support you. But not like this... - The only reason why it takes xx hours of time to finish the game are the long and repetitive walking distances, during which 99% of the time nothing surprising happens. Very simple content, no brainpower needed to playthrough and nothing really intriguing. - Lifeless scenes, characters and background. Static death wherever you look without movement or effects (most of the time). The good things: - I liked the graphics: neat pixel style. - Use of background music is atmospheric. - Good sense of humor here and there (but thats not enough to carry a 15$ game!) - From "technical perspective" everything is clean. Point and click game. I probably wouldn´t be as mad as this, if this was a 1$ game, but 15$ request for this is unfair and just has to be punished and others have to be warned.
Schaut da also auch gerne vorbei!
Ein lustiges kleines Point and Click.
Pros - Great art-style, very nostalgic. - Fully voiced dialog, it can seem a bit strange with all the German accents. Lots of slightly off pronunciations and incorrect emphasis on certain syllables. Like cafeteria is spoken as caff-a-ter-ree-a instead of caff-a-tear-e-a. Regardless the voice acting is appreciated and better than nothing. - Interesting setting - Decent UI and controls. Entirely playable with the mouse, including existing and saving the game. - Generous save slots. - Really cool framing device. Your character is basically telling the story of what happened via an interview and we are effectively playing the memory. Its obviously been done a lot in TV shows but it interesting to see it here. - Pretty good twist ending. Cons - Game is super short, almost feels like a demo. Hard to justify the current price tag even with the included voice acting. - Like a-lot of point and clicks you are free to go about and visit places in whatever order you want but it seems the game design doesn't really take this into consideration properly. The character frequently talks about things and reveals knowledge of things that I haven't encountered yet as a player and have no idea about. So the developer obviously had a very specific sequence in mind. - No way to adjust the sound effects volume, some things are very loud. - No double click to teleport to a hotpot or exit. Makes for a-lot of tedious walking and waiting. - No hot-spot reveal tool. - The character wears a smartwatch for the entire game and it has an interface that you can explore but it appears to be completely useless and not involved in the game-play at all. Really seems like there was content cut here. - No auto-save. - I encountered a bug with a specific puzzle which involved placing pieces on a grid. Whatever reason the game did not detect that I had the pieces correctly placed and I wasted a lot of time wondering how to proceed. Eventually I went back to the puzzle moved all the pieces and moved them back again and suddenly the game registered the correct sequence and I was able to continue. Not sure what triggered the bug, perhaps if you partially complete the puzzle and then exit and return but I really don't know. Just something to watch out for. Overall its gets a recommendation but just about. I think maybe wait for a sale.
Recommended, but with some caveats. I found the narrative to be engaging enough. Upon making a cargo delivery to a space station, you find it abandoned. You're then left to explore the station as it creaks and hums eerily around you. Tense piano chords will strike at seemingly key moments. There aren't many hotspots, so the puzzles are relatively straightforward and on the lighter side. The voice work, while amateurish, adds a sense of playful humor that lightens the mood of the dark setting. And that ending though! Without spoiling anything, there were gasps and snaps. However, my first play through took less than two hours, and I'd estimate around 20 minutes of that was walking along empty corridors that had no points of interaction. This helped with the sense of isolation, but grew tiresome when I knew where I needed to go, and just wanted to get there already. I think the game would benefit from a "double-click to instantly exit" to speed things along. Finally, the price to play-time ratio is higher than many point & click adventures on Steam, but if you're fine with that, there's a decent adventure here.
I was very surprised when I already finished the game in 1h50. You play as Christopher Novak, Captain of a freighter crew in the Orbital Cargo Division, who wants to dock at a space station to make their usual deliveries. But this time you find it completely abandoned. Or is it? It’s a game by German developer Manuel Schenk and heavily influenced by Sierra’s Space Quest series. Orbital Cargo Divison feels like it could fit the old Sierra oeuvre, and it relies heavily on that classic charm to win over adventure gamers. Captain Chris is actually telling the story after the facts to an officer of the military police interviewing him. This delivers a couple of funny intermissions while you’re playing. There’s certainly some level of dark humor in it, and a few laugh-out-loud moments. Especially controlling the maintenance droid, which is for me the highlight of the game’s humor. But I was missing some more variety in the generic responses. When you try to use an inventory item on something, and it’s not the right solution, you’ll always hear Captain Chris saying “Nothing happens” or “That doesn’t work”. It could have been a lot funnier with more customized responses for each and every situation. If I would make a game, being a writer, that’s where I’d probably have most fun myself. The game can be played in its original German but also in an English translation. I’m sure it’s a pleasant experience when playing in German, but the same voice actors have also provided the English version. I played this translation - since my German isn’t all that great - and sadly, the English voicework is far from professional, with weird intonations and basically just sounding as if they’re simply reading the dialogue out loud instead of actually acting. Sometimes they even blatantly mispronounce words, like the animal “bear” being pronounced as the beverage “beer”, and the malodorous “sweat” pronounced as a candy “sweet”. Developer Manuel Schenk is actually voicing Captain Chris himself. I’m certainly not saying that my own English pronunciation is perfect, far from it, so you really have to applaud his zeal in wanting to bring this story to life for a broader audience. Anyway, should the voice-overs bother you too much, you can always disable them and play the game text-only. All in all it was a fun game with obvious inventory puzzles that was over way too soon.
