“I’m the Batter. I’ve been entrusted with a sacred mission.” -- One of the most influential RPGs of the last 20 years is finally coming to Steam. Take control of the Batter as he seeks to purify an uncanny and hopeless world haunted by specters, guided by a cryptic, grinning cat called The Judge.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 3.57/day in the week to Aug 15 → 4.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
I must say, this is really quite strange. You are the first living being I have ever met in this place. Nevertheless, I will introduce myself. I am the Judge.

He seeks to purify the world. You, then, the controller, the soul that he harbors, must aid him in this laudable task. Alongside my sportive companion you will find it necessary to solve puzzles, rain blows upon certain hostile individuals of our wild zones, and oversee the headways and logistics of a network of swan boats and interurban locomotives.

Open your wings and fly toward the zones ahead without hesitation! All of them are filled with strange and enchanting beings as well as every modern convenience. All of them appear, it must be said, to require the beneficient application of our friend the Batter’s muscular wrist. Do not worry, my dear phantasm—I, the Judge, will be with you (in spirit and body) at all the most crucial moments of your quest.

How dare you talk to me? Why have you decided to be such a pain in my ass? The Queen chose me to protect Zone 1, and I've dedicated my whole life to it.
Listen. Get out of here, and take those ghosts with you, or I am going to kill you. I hope that's clear enough.

TL;DR - 8/10 There is something obviously special, but I feel like I am missing something. I want there to be no mistake; I enjoyed this game quite a bit. It was definitely an above-average experience. I would absolutely recommend it to anybody looking for a short RPG video game with a little something to it. The puzzles were fun and right about perfect for what I wanted from them (there was one I did end up brute forcing, and I did break down and look up walkthroughs to get me through the end sequence and to get pointers on the 'true ending'). The combat balance was also quite good; I never felt like I was obviously overpowered and steamrolling everything with one-command screen wipes. But most importantly, this game is an obvious RPG Maker game that does the best thing an RPG Maker game can do: jam pack itself to bursting with STYLE. From every direction and every angle. The eclectic collage of different artistic design aesthetics, the naming and word-choice schemes for characters and their abilities, the soundscapes (for which I have seen a lot of crosstalk about the original vs. this version, where I have not played the original), the whole nine yards. Every moment I spent with this game, I spent thoroughly engrossed with its style; the surreal creativity and allusionary inclusions kept the gears in my head turning, thinking and imagining my own ideas of what was and what could be both internal to the game's world and beyond. I can easily and immediately see how it was an inspiration point for many people out in the indie game dev space and elsewhere. But I think that leads to my biggest letdown. I feel like I am missing something. I had read much buzz about this title, and who it influenced and inspired and that set a certain level of expectation; expectation which was not met. Yes, that is fully a me problem. I surely could not have been let down if I did not have expectations going in. But at the same time, I would not have gone in to begin with had I not run across the things that gave me those expectation. And regardless of what I should or should not have expected, I was let down by the big 'story' aspect that reviews and publicity had pushed only amounted to a very basic and shallow trope-standard affair. Don't get me wrong, the presentation and the style still chef's kiss. But the underlying meat of the story itself, quite lacking to me. And I feel like the rift that exists between my assessment and the praise that has been heaped on it means there is something I am missing. But every angle I look at, I don't find anything to latch onto and instead think that what I am missing is that I didn't first play OFF when I was thirteen. It is all style, and no (or very little) substance. And again, because I feel this bears repeating, that's FINE. There is SO MUCH style here, that it doesn't *need* substance for me to be eating well. What I am trying to get at is I think my recommendation is best served with a side of "don't go in expecting anything super deep or profound from the story; you're here for a VERY stylistic experience". Temper that expectation and I think you'll be in for quite a good time. :)

Absolute classic
off has been impactful to me in ways i perhaps cant quite consciously measure ever since encountering it in the wee days of my youth... so pleased with this. the combat feels really fun & the secret bosses are all such treats to fight! loved it (felt awful the whole time except when the music hit; maybe purification isnt so bad if it sounds so good!)
Weird and a little abrasive, but overall an amazing experience
10/10 game
Se me quedo un poco corto en complejidad, pero no deja de ser muy interesante la historia del protagonista y todos los eventos que se relacionan a la trama final
First and foremost: If you have never played OFF before, I recommand you play the original game first, which is literally free, then it's up to you whether you want to purchase this version as well. OFF is an excellent game that is a must play PLEASE PLAY OFF. This review is focusing on what has been added to this remake. I have enjoyed the newly-added secret bosses, even if some of them might be a bit frustrating because of their respective gimmicks. The soundtrack is good! It may not be as iconic as the original one, but I think people are too hard on the new tracks. I am a collectible enjoyer so I also appreciate the addition of the pillar artworks. I do think that it's more worth it to get the game while on sale, but it's still a pretty solid rework overall.
The 2025 remake IS WORTH IT
Pretty fun game, played it back in 2014 when Markiplier did his Let's Play. It's a recommended play.
