I took a chance on this and it paid off. Not too difficult and there are meat chunks and teeth!!!!! :) :) :)
This was really fun to play. All the characters were visually interesting (and pleasing if you enjoy dark fantasy) and the world worked together nicely. Personally, I enjoyed the straight forward combat, level up and gear systems. There is none of that "buying gear now only to find it for free later on nonsense". So I would recommend this for those that want a soothing dark fantasy to enjoy without stress or frustration. There are two things that I hope are improved with future games. A map of sorts would be very helpful. With a game that is very maze-y, any type of map will help with making sure we search all areas of these worlds. The other thing would be a deeper story. This one is good, but it lacked depth. However with that said, the message is one that needs to be said. (Side note, there is no 'run' feature. at first it was weird, however, it quickly became normal and eventually I didn't think of my characters speed as I was too busy thinking about the well paced story, so I don't think this needs to be changed.)
Oh my, what a gem I found here! This game was a surprise in so many ways! I think it can be best described as Undertale, but set in the gloomy and disturbing world of Darkwood. One of the most original, captivating, and emotionally strongest games I have played recently. I encourage everyone to play it, even those who are not entirely comfortable with RPG mechanics, since they are simplified here and amply accessible to allow everyone to enjoy the beautiful story and the deliciously haunting silent-hillesque atmosphere. My most sincere congratulations to the devs, I'm sure I'll keep this experience in my heart forever. Cheers guys!
Overly inflated random encounter rate artificially increases the game length and makes it unfun to play.
While I generally liked the atmosphere and the 'IT' style opening, the play experience hasn't been the best. The character walks very slow through maze-like environments of washed out repeating tile sets with few landmarks or anything to look at. Random encounters, while not hard, feel almost constant, making it a slog to get anywhere. Warp zones only take you to the hub and start of a maze, never anywhere along the way, so if you back out, you're slogging through again to reach wherever you are. I liked the characters as I came across them, particularly Serene and the malevolent taunting head. Monster designs are generally good. Regaining SP on normal attacks is a good mechanic, allowing you to use abilities at a reasonable click and persevere in the lengthy dungeons. Still, I feel like there's a good idea in here, but it just doesn't play well enough for me to want to stick with it. I found myself often boredly auto-attacking the same handful of mobs and reading on my phone to pass the time. It didn't seem like anything else was warranted except the occasional healing.
It was a fun RPG maker game. I would have liked some quality of life improvements such as WASD movement, a full screen toggle, and a way to lower sound only. Overall, it was worth the price and i'd check out the next game you make.
AI portraits. Sad. Game looks awesome.

I really enjoyed this game. Story is good and atmosphere is fantastic. It's cozy and terrifying at the same time. Hope too see more games from the developer (*´ω`*)
