This game is really brilliant in its approach to commenting on high stakes testing in schools. Sadly, the fun and even some of the message are lost in an overly-complex game design that requires constant micro-managing of teachers and even individual students; for this reason, I didn't even play beyond the first couple of schools because each one became bigger, and the prospect of constantly pausing to zoom in and use an action on a specific student was too daunting to keep playing. Of course, even that's part of the message; it's hard to design curriculum around individual students, why not just turn them into pineapples?!
Good idea, poorly executed. Boring and tedious.
BAAAAD! Game runs once before it refuses to load Tutorials are ok (ish) and no way to build your own schools
This game is meh at best
really interesting idea, but theres so many buttons yet such little direction on how to use them :(
This review section is in dire need of a sense of humour, but they summarised it perfectly. A school management game where you lobotomise your students in the name of academic performance is a very solid concept, but the gameplay is repetitive and takes way too long, and the fast forward button is bugged. I had fun, but I can't guarantee you would too.
Good idea, not that great of an implementation.
No Pineapple Left Behind shines in the two most powerful aspects of video games, its gameplay and the narrative that it tells. Both should be enough to hook anyone, with stylistic choices reflecting both the story and the focus on student management in modern schools. While creating a game that’s actually fun to play, Subaltern Games took the opportunity to say something, and in doing so, managed a haunting reflection of modern education.
Buon divertimento!
