Some of the worst side content I've ever had the displeasure of experiencing while having a thought-provoking masterpiece of a story with incredible characters and music.
NieR automata feels like you're losing your closest friends and NieR replicant feels like you're getting your family ripped away from you every time you turn your head. Amazing game 100% recommend
Taro will make me play through the worst jrpg of the centuary 5 times in a row just so that I can watch different 30 seconds ending cutscenes, and even then I still think his game is a masterpiece

melhor jogo da minha vida
If you're coming from Automata, I would turn around and leave right now. This game is a remake of the game that came before automata and the game design has some mind-bogglingly insane decisions. Yes, the game is technically a "prequel" to Automata, and the music and the storytelling is phenomenal. The UI and the world building once again gives insight into Yoko Taro's genius, but it also gives a glimpse into his madness. Automata's side quests were optional and mostly combat-based or fetch type quests with a large side serving of emotional, thought-provoking plotline. For Replicant's side quests, it felt like Yoko wanted us to feel like we're alive in the game, and the best way to do so was to make players feel pain. From real-life time dependent farming where you have to come back to the game at the perfect time or the crops will wilt and you can't complete the quest, to endless olive garden breadsticks refill of fishing quests you have to look up a guide for since every fish only spawns at a specific type of body of water, to carry this pottery that breaks when you roll or take any damage across large map area where mobs spawn endlessly, there are so many side quests you would wish you never had the displeasure of accepting. Do you remember how you had to repeat a certain part of Automata to proceed the story? Well, in Replicant you get to repeat the story 5 times AND you collect all the weapons from around the map, some of which are locked behind the terrible side quests as mentioned above, if you want to see all the endings. In Automata, 2B is an absolute speed unit, you can also ride on animals and fast travel to get to your destination faster. In Replicant, there are multiple occasions where you have to travel from one end of the entire map to the other and the boat that is supposed to be the fast travel point are locked or disabled most of the game. In Automata, most of the mobs that spawn are easy to kill or outright ignore, and the game introduces you to new combat mechanics that keeps things fresh whether you were a fan of the change or not. In Replicant, you can't go anywhere without running into the mobs, and in the late game, most mobs have a really hard shield compared to their measly reward and unending respawn, that most of the endgame I spent just running desperately from the mob horde so that I can just finish the game. In Automata, the gimmicky fights are limited to optional side content or used very sparingly in main storyline fights. In Replicant, the gimmicks are the default, the desert temple portion made me want to quit playing many times. AND there is a whole section of the game where you have to read walls of text and solve questions based on them. It took all I had to just complete up to ending A for Replicant, Yoko probably took criticism from Replicant to improve Automata originally, but I don't see why they couldn't have touched up some things before they re-released this game.
NieR Replicant is an amazing game! The story is by far the best aspect of this game and it's worth every minute played. Despite loving the game, I recognize it's far from perfect and here's what I think is a bit more on the negative side of things: - This PC port isn't great and suffers from some stuttering and frame pacing issues, I highly recommend installing SpecialK in order to mitigate these issues. - Some main quests and the majority of sidequests are simple fetch quests, with time it starts getting a bit boring. There are some sidequests that are pretty interesting and if you want to do every ending you'll need to do a few but nothing astonishing, most can be skipped if you're not feeling like doing the sidequests. - This game suffers quite a bit from repetition, in order to do every ending you'll need to replay the second half of the game a minimum of 3 times and the first part twice. Those subsequents runs are generally MUCH quicker since you already know what to do, you keep your stuff and depending on the ending you can skip cutscenes since they don't ALWAYS change. Despite everything, I HIGHLY recommend you to play this flawed masterpiece and please do every ending. Ending E (the last ending) is so peak that it compensates for that repetition you have to go through. Also character designs are peak. PLAY IT NOW.
Pros:
The story is well written, with strong emotional moments and characters that grow naturally throughout the game. It becomes more rewarding in NG+ and especially with Ending E, Emil, Weiss Kaine were so fun, entertaining, memorable, and bring a lot of personality to the cast. The game also offers five endings, which adds replay value for players willing to stick with it, and the payoff of the final ending feels incredibly satisfying.and combined with the soundtrack, they carry a huge part of the game’s charm.
In between:
The combat is decent, but it never reaches its full potential. It looks flashy and stylish but that is it, The magic system could have been explored much more creatively. The side characters are more interesting.
Cons:
The biggest issue is how repetitive the game becomes when going for the other endings. Outside of Ending E, you are replaying large sections of the game multiple times for only a few additional scenes or changes, which can feel exhausting. There is also an excessive amount of text-based sequences, some of them are genuinely interesting, which makes it even stranger that they were never fully animated. Combat feels unnecessarily restrictive while you technically have four ability slots, two are basically reserved for dodge and block/parry, leaving little room to experiment with the many cool abilities available. Finally, achievement hunting is extremely grind-heavy. 7/10: Delivers an emotional story, unforgettable characters, and an incredible soundtrack, but repetitive replays and shallow combat keep it from reaching its full potential.
NieR Replicant is a game that I think is really special. When you finish it for the time you will think that you have seen everything but the truth is you have only just started to understand it. This game has good graphics, a soundtrack that is amazing combat that is satisfying and an ending that is very meaningful. All of these things are part of a story that gets deeper and more sad the longer you play it. The way you play the game is a mix of styles. It is part action game, part role playing game. It also has some parts where you have to fight your way through dungeons and other parts where you have to avoid a lot of bullets. This makes the game feel fresh and exciting all the time. The combat is also very modern. It feels like you are really in control. The soundtrack is also very good. It makes the game feel even more powerful. I think the writing in this game is very good. It is subtle. It has a lot of layers. The characters you meet feel like people with real problems. The world of the game is also very quiet and sad. This feeling stays with you even after you finish the game. What I think is really great about NieR Replicant is the way the story works. I think you really need to play through all 5 endings to understand the game. Each time you play through the game you will see things and understand the story in a new way. You will not really understand what the game is about until you have seen all of the endings. This is the kind of storytelling that only works in video games and I think NieR Replicant does it better, than any other game. Playing through all 5 endings of NieR Replicant is something that I think everyone should do. NieR Replicant is a game that gets better and better the more you play it.
NieR Replicant —
Weiss, you dumbass!
