zdzislaw beksinski walking simulator. If you like surreal art, you'll like this.
Developed by Dragonis Ares and Adonis Brosteanu and published by Dragonis Games, Necrophosis is a first-person horror adventure that embraces surreal imagery, environmental storytelling, and psychological tension over traditional survival horror mechanics. Rather than confronting players with constant combat or relentless chases, it invites them into a haunting realm where the very concept of death has begun to rot away. The result is a deeply atmospheric experience that feels more like stepping inside an unsettling nightmare than progressing through a conventional horror game. Its commitment to unsettling visuals and mysterious lore immediately distinguishes it from many modern entries in the genre. The game takes place in an unimaginably distant future, long after the collapse of existence itself. Players awaken inside a cursed dimension ravaged by the phenomenon known as Necrophosis, an affliction that corrupts every living and lifeless thing it encounters. As the journey unfolds, the story is revealed through fragmented narration, cryptic writings, symbolic imagery, and environmental details instead of lengthy dialogue or cinematic exposition. This storytelling approach encourages players to actively interpret the world's secrets, rewarding curiosity and careful observation. While some may find its deliberately abstract narrative difficult to decipher, others will appreciate the sense of mystery and the freedom to develop their own understanding of the world's tragic history. Exploration forms the heart of the gameplay. Players navigate grotesque landscapes filled with twisted monuments, decaying structures, and unsettling organic architecture while solving environmental puzzles that gradually unlock new paths. The puzzles are thoughtfully integrated into the world, relying more on observation and logical interaction than artificial complexity. Progress rarely feels rushed, allowing players to absorb every disturbing detail while uncovering hidden lore scattered throughout each location. The slower pace complements the game's oppressive atmosphere, ensuring that every new environment leaves a lasting impression rather than simply serving as another obstacle between objectives. Necrophosis truly shines through its artistic presentation. Every location is meticulously crafted with extraordinary attention to texture, lighting, and surreal design, creating environments that are simultaneously horrifying and strangely beautiful. Towering skeletal remains, impossible architecture, grotesque sculptures, and decaying landscapes combine to produce an unforgettable visual identity. The sound design is equally effective, relying on haunting ambient music, unsettling environmental effects, and restrained audio cues that maintain a constant feeling of unease. Instead of depending on loud jump scares, the game generates fear through isolation, uncertainty, and the overwhelming sense that players have entered a world beyond human understanding. One of the game's greatest strengths is its unwavering commitment to atmosphere. Every mechanic, artistic choice, and narrative element serves the same purpose of immersing players within its decaying universe. This focus creates a remarkably cohesive experience that rewards those who appreciate slow exploration and psychological horror. However, players searching for action-heavy gameplay, extensive combat systems, or fast-paced progression may find the deliberate pacing too restrained. Necrophosis is clearly designed as an atmospheric journey first and a traditional horror game second, making it most appealing to those who value immersive world-building and interpretive storytelling. Overall, Necrophosis succeeds as an ambitious and memorable horror adventure that prioritizes artistic expression above conventional genre expectations. Its imaginative world design, deeply unsettling environments, thoughtful environmental puzzles, and mysterious narrative combine to deliver an experience that remains captivating from beginning to end. Although its slow pace and abstract storytelling will not appeal to every player, those willing to embrace its surreal vision will discover one of the more distinctive psychological horror adventures available. It is an impressive showcase of how atmosphere, visual creativity, and environmental storytelling can create lasting tension without relying on constant action. Rating: 8/10
It s very nice game with rich story and interesting!!!!
true art
What a beautifully made game. Look into any direction of each level and your left in awe. Very creepy, eerie and atmoshperic. Lore was cool, but some parts felt a bit repetitive.
An excellent game
Это не совсем игра, больше фильм интерактивный - ходилка. Но безумно крутые арты, чисто ради них и атмосферы не жалею ни цента
beautiful and dark aestethic in tribute to the works of H.R Giger coupled with a philosophical and semi-religious narrative about eternal existence and death set in a dark and morbid type of underworld. no actual puzzles, but mostly search, find and put in place type of thing without much brain usage needed in contrast to those of Scorn, so for those, like me, who came here from Scorn might feel a little underwhelmed and disappointed in that regard while still appreciating the game as a whole for its style and concept. loved the aestethics and narrative, but couldve had more/actual various types of puzzles similarly to that of Scorn, and also the game itself was surprisingly short, but all in all it was good. just like my ex wife used to say. 6/10
Where as Scorn hardly had any story and the combat felt like a hamfisted element.Necrophosis does not have much of actual gameplay at all besides puzzles and goes way too much into just loredumping the player. That latter part probably sullied my experience the most, What the game is about is given away way too early and not much is left to interpretation. It's more fairly priced and wasn't hyped up to be be this big thing years in development like Scorn, but If I had to recommend one it would still probably be Scorn over this.
Great game if you enjoy walking simulators with some puzzles, and the entire game was made by one person. Be warned, though: some of its visuals may be disturbing for some people.
