I porobić zdjęcia.
Eh, it does what says and does it well enough for the price even though its a bit short. Personally I found the whole experience to be forgettable as its a glorified lovecraftian 3D art gallery with a game attached. I didn't hate it though, so this review is a thumbs up for me boss.
When Necrophosis was released, it was something new and fresh. The walking simulator with graphics based on art of Beksinski--nobody has have done it before. It was good despite the obvious signs that the developers were running out of ides as the game progressed: last two levels were bland and full of repeating puzzles. The Subconsciousness, on the other hand, is just almost a carbon copy of the first release. Same puzzles, same unintelligible speeches which you can't skip. "Almost" a carbon copy, because there are differences, but not for the better: additions of teeth and fangs which add grotesque character to the graphics and are so different from original Beksinski's artwork; also, increased complexity of the puzzles leading to countless scans of overloaded inventory. Is it worth $5? Five dollars is not much, nowadays you can't even buy a lunch for it, and this amount probably more less equals to the value of the addition to the game. Is it worth it at all? Frankly, after playing it through, I think it is not. I don't know what the future plans of game developers are, but I believe that there should be no further additions to Necrophosis. I would like to see a new game, based on different idea, new original development (stress on "original").
Really wanted to like this after enjoying Scorn so much. Unfortunately the game has really awful UI that makes it hard to interact with. The text is almost unreadable at a couch distance due to the serif font and no text scaling options, multiple menus are broken or have unusable interactions when using a controller, most often the cursor highlight just disappearing. Pick-up interactions kinda suck cus the only indication that there is some kind of additional interaction is a tiny text change in the UI at the bottom of the screen and rotating the object always requires a trigger input. But what was the final nail in the coffin in me asking for a return was just how poorly conveyed the in-world interactions were. Spent about 40 min of my 70m playtime wandering around the second area just desperately trying to find whatever hidden interaction was blocking my progression. I still want to see this world and experience the story, but I feel like my time would be better spent watching an edited let's play instead of trying to figure out what invisible button I need to press to dispense the next dialogue. The art, sound design and atmosphere are pretty solid, animation is okay, lighting was off in some places, and postprocessing transitions were pretty rough in places, but the UI/UX and interaction conveyance towards the player is what killed the experience for me.
Beautifully unnerving.
