So far So fun.
NO SPOILERS HERE, DONT WORRY. Overall, this game is great. The graphics, gameplay, and combat are all great, and I love the leveling system in this game too. As the son of an avid fromsoft fan, and being one myself for nearly 14 years... I give this game an 8/10. My dad liked it too, for the record. HOWEVER. I would have given this a 9 or maybe even a 10 out of 10 if not for the final portion of this game. It sucks, and felt like a drag. I have a feeling it was rushed and the final boss is frankly terrible, and left a very sour aftertaste for me. I have hope that these developers will fix this issue since they made an amazing week 1 patch that fixed a lot of the game's issues on launch.

Fun
Even better than the first one. Combat is smoother. This series of games is getting better and better. Definitely recommend
Oh Mortal Shell, you could've been absolutely impeccable, but you messed up. First of all, I love everything about this game, the world, the visuals, the combat, upgrades, weapons, shells. Everything is great....well except the devs tries to make this game much harder than it had to be. You give me an amazing world to explore, but then make everything around it so hostile that I'm just confused. so very little bonfires, enemies do pretty massive damage for beeing there very early in the game and I can't count how many times I ran around in panic without flasks, trying to figure out if I could find a bonfire to make progress. Dungeons were usually skipped because I didn't know if I was about to face 3 base enemies or 2 grishas in a tiny arena, so I wanted to make sure to not have to walk around for another 10 minutes to get back there. Bosses themselves have limited movesets that all work great unless there's some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-my-body-is-my-whole-hitbox-for-3-seconds that usually 2 or oneshots you. DAMAGE is the biggest factor of my frustration. Every single enemy from midgame on can simply decide to combo you to death if you mess up the parry. Lategame enemies usually just 2-shot you, but their combos are often even longer, so parry or die. And don't even get me started on NG+, the last boss has so much HP, can oneshot you through a full life shell and takes around 10-13 minutes with a axe-crit build. The devs clearly lost the plot on the damage topic, everything is dictated by it and if everything else wasn't as good as it is, this would make me absolutely despise this game. I dig the massive evolution from MS1 and I had quite a lot of really fun hours with it, but man, who thought that the damage is a good idea, it literally ruins 80% of the game.
this game deserves every negative review it has. It's a game that I haven't finished and don't intend to as of right now. I'm here to say the same thing literally everyone is saying, the endgame difficulty spikes are ridiculous. there's two main dungeons left for me personally and one of them has a boss that has consistnently one shot me no matter what level I am or what gear I have. i found him at level 16 and now im somewhere over level 20 and the fight doesnt feel any different. the other dungeon i cant even get through because the regular enemies are that overtuned. getting to the level im at now took like 16 hours and at the start every new level i got felt different, I felt myself getting stronger. now, it feels like the leveling has inverted and everytime i level up im actually nerfing myself lower and lower. this alone almost wouldn't be enough for me to bother leaving a review, I was almost going to just let it lie and wait until they nerf the bosses. but after playing as much as i have i've come to the realization that this game is made by people who fundamentally misunderstand what makes a soulslike fun. it honestly feels like these devs think the people who say "if you like dark souls, you're a masochist who loves being punished" are right. this game has so many random middle fingers, like the strange lack of resources making it so you cant actually experiment with different shells, the games namesake. also, one time i was in a room that only served as a passage into another room, no enemies, no items, nothing. except for a random bear trap. it didnt do nearly enough damage to kill me, didnt trigger an ambush, nothing special. it was just there purely to spite me as far as i can tell. theres a million little moments like this that pile up and just build animosity for your game. like the fact that shallow water thats walkable and deep water that instantly kills you look the exact same. TLDR: a decent game that seems to lose itself halfway through in pursuit of punishing you for trying to enjoy it.
