I decent challenge for someone who wants to try a souls-like, but will likely be fairly easy for hard core souls-like players. I'm not that good, so it works well for me.
This game rocks
They took all the stuff from the first game and perfected them. It was a blast from start to finish.

TLDR: This game is so sick and you should play it! PROS: Some might see this game and think it's "We have Dark Souls at home" and it kinda is but... Only if "HOME" is a mansion with a full staff of 3 star Michelin chefs on hand. The atmosphere is awesome! Just getting to the main hub area was pure cinema! The combat was so awesome before I had even unlocked the character I ended up staying with for my whole play-thru. I've heard some complaints about the soundtrack lacking a bit and I disagree; the music tho a bit sparce, when it hits, IT HITS! Like a truck! The progression of the story, the side quests, level design all had me so hooked I couldn't put this game down! Never played the first one, and pre-ordered this one on a whim and I'm glad I did! It turned out to be one of the most fun games I've played in a min. The difficulty could be adjusted to your playstyle tho I felt it was fine where it was. You can make it easier/harder should you want it. The animations of the ripostes are sick, little easter eggs hidden throughout the world, the lute that's also a sidearm! CONS: only real con I can think of is the lack of new enemies in the more late game, but this never bothered me. I hear people complain about this quite a bit but I felt it was just fine. Got stuck in the map a few times but nothing a quick reset didn't fix and didn't lose any progress either. That's about it. Solid game, I feel MS2 is right up there with Lies of P or any other souls-like that made a real effort to be good!
TL;DR: Better then the first, still with rough edges, recommend at a discount. At roughly 28 hours, finished the game but with no real intention to 100% it. A marked step up from the first Mortal Shell where they took many lessons and applied most of them. While it still needs work, the first major patch they had was a good step in the right direction. I enjoyed most of my time with the game as the early to mid game exploration and combat is very enjoyable. Most of the games problems didn't truly rear their head until the final part which seems to be a theme among reviews. For the positives, the art direction and monster design is top notch. All the major bosses are suitably grotesque and a fair number of the smaller enemies are quite interesting as well. The problem, however, is how many of the mid-bosses are just "Normal enemy but with a name" and how by the time you're about 1/3rd through the game you've seen almost the entire roster save one or two. I really enjoyed the majority of the shells even if I only really used two of them and thanks to the Glimpse stones being able to max the bond for all of them in one run if you so chose was a blessing. I didn't find most of their stories particularly interesting but the fact they all played differently was nice such as the knight being a break/riposte master, Genessa using her summons to draw agro and build status and damage, or Proxima having a whole bakery. Biggest issue is that not all shells were created equal and the amount of effort to make the Knight work vs someone like Sariel is astronomical in the knights favor. I really enjoyed exploration too with it being an open world but being so condensed that it was not like something such as Elden Ring but still had tons of nooks and crannies for hidden loot and dungeons or if you don't want to be arsed you can just pay the merchant for maps to find weapons or the big lady for shell locations. My only real complaint is I know at some point I forgot to cleanse a beacon or two because I was short a few Ovum at the end and didn't know where they might be so that could be something to add, such as a map that can reveal lost Ova near the end of the game. The combat was nice and visceral. The hits from basically all the weapons felt good and meaty, watching enemies fly or explode into gore was great, and it felt good to get the parry game down. The ripostes were well animated (mostly) and with the buff they gave it in the first major patch also made it something to shoot for where before it was better to just heavy attack. The only time combat felt bad was near the end due to bosses being more sponge then anything, the slower weapons not hitting hard enough to justify how slow they are, many bosses not giving openings for said heavy weapons, and the final boss being a massively unfun pain with bad hitboxes, bad tells such as a near instant tail attack, and even at level 60 being able to 2-3 shot you out of any shell combined which a propensity to fly in the air but still spew fire AoEs with you unable to hit him until he decides to come down or he'll "jump" away and just kinda teleport to the other side of the arena due to janky collusion just felt bad. The biggest let down was the music. None of it was very memorable so I can't even find a good or bad thing to say. It's music, it exists, I was not impressed. Sorry. Overall, really good for 75% of the game but the last 25% was a boring, bland slog topped with a very frustrating final boss. I hope they take more lessons from Mortal Shell 2 and if they make a 3rd one, make further improvements. I dunno if I'd recommend it at $50 due to that final frustrating really being the fly in the soup but $40ish would be a good price in my eyes.
Very solid entry in the Souls-Like category. Possibly up there with Lies of P for best non-Fromsoft souls-like. Better in every way than the first game, in some cases massively better. If you have liked any Souls game or Souls-like, you really should give this one a try.
honestly its cool but ♥♥♥♥ the annoying ass enemies there more anoyying then anything else in the game and hit way to hard and the game blocking off some of the cool ♥♥♥♥ but losing achivments
