A rage inducing momentum-based precision platformer. Miss a single button prompt and risk losing hard earned progress. But—damn, I have to say, once it clicks, it clicks.
It's good! Smart design and button mapping. The trigger ones were finnicky and frustrating at times but I think I just needed momentum coming in.

A fun short 2d platformer
Monumentum is a short platformer that wears its heart on its sleeve. With just the title, the aesthetic, and the first 30 seconds of gameplay you know what you’re in for. The intricately detailed monument you find your avatar (a small cube) moving through is a mechanical temple. As you quickly realize, the space is full of machines meant to propel. First you unlock jump pads which launch you into the air with a bass-y thrum. As you continue you unlock a handful more abilities which let you use the other machines here. Overall, movement feels good, if a little slippery. This could be a major knock in a game that set its sights higher - aiming for the mechanical precision of something like Hopshot or Celeste. However in this 45-90 minute experience, it only grates a little and is contrasted with the joy of mastering this beautiful clockwork. There were a couple challenges, one of which pushed a little close to overstaying its welcome, but overall it was very doable to clear each section in 1-3 tries. When I think back on this, I think what will mainly stick with me is the aesthetic, but that’s just fine with me. I do like a machine temple vibrating with unexplained energy.
Nice little game, worth the price of admission. I finished it in a little under an hour. Not too difficult, but requires some dexterity and quick reflexes. Atmosphere is creepy in a satisfying way that adds a lot to the experience! Give this one a try.
Really competent precision platformer, it took me around 1 hour (30 minutes for demo, 30 minutes for rest of the game, saves DO transfer). A bit short, some more challenges would be nice, but control scheme (1 button per 1 "ability") limits it a bit. Nothing that cannot be solved or expanded upon, just a thought. It has that serrene and strange vibe of finding something you dont understand. Platforming challenges remind me of Getting over it, but less punishing. Yeah, if you fail one section, you may start over 1 - 2 other sections away, but you won't have to spent 30 minutes getting back from the ground. One thing that game begs for me is some kind of motive, something to drill in your head while you jump, why are you jumping, what is this place. This game needs to give you some basic questions and some answers that give even more questions. Overall, for 2$ on sale, it's worth the experience and challenge.
MONUMENTUM feels really good to play, and its also quite pleasing to look at. The grays with pops of color are an awesome stylistic choice. yeah It is quite short, probably somewhere between one and two hours depending on how quickly you pick up the play style. The mechanics are well thought out, but it does feel lacking some challenge. There are a few rooms where the challenge and combination of mechanics really shine, but overall it and it does a great job of introducing each new piece of game play to you. I think it's worth the $4 price, but personally would have liked to see more, or some optional and more difficult post game rooms to complete. If you're at all unsure, the demo is rather long given the length of the game and covers a good bit of the move set you will encounter.
Jogo muito bom! Um jogo curtinho e simples. Só um quadrado em uma grande estrutura tecnológica.
