Kanji Training Game

There is no actual training, you're expected to either know them beforehand or learn through trial and error. I'd advise against the trial and error route since there are mistakes...which also make it rough to try getting through it with no wrong answers. Basically, just go elsewhere for learning or reviewing.

As someone who spent quite some time learning chinese characters, i was obviously curious about a game called Kanji Training. This game could be useful for someone that already knows kanji and wants to test their knowledge or refresh their memory. The game is basically a series of simple match-it tests. Lets suppose you already know the rules of writing kanji, you know the traits and radicals and know some kanji. In this case the game could be useful in learning more kanji, but its not a very good method. The best method is reading stuff and using a good dictionary, because each kanji can have several meanings and often several pronunctiations. If you are new to kanji, this game will not teach you kanji, and it will not help you learn kanji. Sadly there is only one game that can teach you kanji, its called "stop playing and start studying". Please be warned that if you are trying to learn kanji by simply memorizing how it looks, you are doing more harm than good and wasting your energy for nothing. With the above reservations i would recommend this game, if used properly this software will be useful. One of the biggest challenges in learning kanji is not learning the kanji, but not forgetting the ones you already learned while you learn new ones, and this game will help with that. Also please take a look at the comments and you will see a developer that cares about a review and changes the store page description over it. Thats rare and worthy of respect.

Excelente herramienta, no tan así, como un juego. Requiere ya venir sabiendo mas o menos lo que buscamos, al menos con el Kanji, pero es un complemento muy completo para iniciarse en el japones. Y trae los significados de el Kanji en español!

this game isn't to learn new things but it's more a help to remember stuff you already learned, and in that aspect I rate it 100% positive. But yes,. don't get it if you want to learn new things.

This is NOT good to LEARN any of the three Japanese writing languages; Katakana, Hiragana, or Kanji. There are no explanations or tutorials on how to learn the material and I feel the hints come in too quickly for you to engage with the tests. I would recommend something else and use this as a way to REVIEW what you already know. That being said, I enjoy the music that accompanies the game and would recommend it as a quick (but not comprehensive) review of Katakana and Hragana.

This probably would be best as a supplement or refresher for those learning the language. Or who know the three alphabets, but need to be sure for their next trip, business or otherwise. It has very little teaching value. Since if you don't know what the characters mean... you can't exactly pass the quiz...

It's a fun game for sure but if you want to practice Kanji you are better off just downloading the free SRS (Spaced Repetition System) Anki.

Comme son nom l'indique, Kanji Training Game est un jeu d'entrainement sur la reconnaissance des kanas et des kanjis. Vous avez un petit peu de temps à tuer ? Et hop, une petite session histoire de pas oublier ce qui a durement été appris. Le jeu vous écrit la traduction d'un kana / kanji, à vous de retrouver le signe qui correspond. Et c'est tout (ou presque, puisqu'il y a quelques petites "leçons" sur les kanjis). Pas d'option "audio". Pas de possibilité de faire l'inverse. Bref, à condition de ne pas prendre Kanji Training Game avec ce qu'il n'est pas, il remplit parfaitement son office. Le tout pour une somme très modique.

85/100 - Very good for what it is. Combining any video game format with education is a good thing. The more we know the stronger we are. I don't have much to say about this as a game, it is very simple. The game gives you the meaning in English and you pick the symbol that represents the given meaning. Basically, you play the second half of "Match" the card game. The game supports Hiragana, Katakana, and the early school Grades of Kanji. ------------------------ I do have more to say about this as an educational tool. As someone who has a base level of self-taught Japanese primarily for gaming, I can recommend this as a great early practice tool for the reading aspect. When learning Japanese one needs to establish a strong basis and have many tools that do not overtax the brain too much. Cramming information is not nearly as effective as working with the language in multiple ways for a small amount per day. If you expect you learn Japanese from this one program you are going to be very disappointed. However, if you take this product and combine it with other useful tools and work a little a day on it you will get there. --------------------------------------------- I would call this a good base starting point for reading or gaming. If your interest in Japanese is primarily Anime you might want to focus on using things like the programs from Pimsleur. Listening based exercises. If your primary interest is conversational the best way to do that is to find someone who speaks Japanese as a native language and wishes to learn English. (They will probably be just as happy learning from you.) ------------------------------------------- Keep in mind, Japanese like all languages is never something you can master so don't get discouraged when it doesn't all click. Immersion and time are your best friends when it comes to this. You will get it in time the key is to keep with it. Speed = Loss in this case. ------------------------------------ Do yourself a favour, toss on a movie or music and play this a bit without worrying about the score too much, the same way you might mess around with a game of solitaire or a mobile game. Let your brain absorb the information. You will be surprised with how well your brain can learn when it is not stressed out.
