It has pretty interesting mechanics. If you like historical 4x and you're willing explore this new take on the genre, give it a try. No guarantee that you'll like it though.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A very solid game that is quite a bit more competitive than Civ 7. Recommended. Don't sweat the Mixed reviews. Lots of interesting mechanics that set it apart.
This is an ok game. It's a little better than ok. And considering I bought it on sale for 20 bucks I gotta admit I got a bargain. The game manages to do the pre-historic age better than any version of CIV I've ever played. But problems eventually creep in. The game has a lot of weird mechanics but they mostly boil down to "mana" counters. Instead of mana it's diplomacy or engineering counters etc, but you get the idea. I also don't like the age system. It feels like nobody making these games understands crap about anthropology or ancient history. "Ages" are a useful shorthand to refer to particular peoples and material types, like, "the classical age" would refer to ancient rome and greece and civilizations involved with them. However, people lived in other parts of the world and they might have still been stone age or bronze age etc. In other words these "ages" aren't some kind of global effect that should have game mechanics attached to them. There are no differences between the civilizations. No stat differences and no looks differences. This is really annoying as when you get more into the game it starts to really get old how similar everyone looks. It really doesn't matter what civ you pick to play. They all look the same and have the same abilities. 100% cookie cutter. Only city names are different. Also from a cultural perspective zero attempt is made to line up free cities culturally with each other or with the player. All is random. It's jarring. Also the graphics are kind of weak in general. Not terrible but weak in the sense that your units can be obscured by terrain at certain zoom levels. It also really sucks fighting a war against someone who is mostly the same color as you with mostly the same units. Good luck telling his from yours. There is a general jank that goes into the "combat" view which shouldn't even exist. Basically the game zooms in on combat and you have to watch but you can't participate. This might be a good feature if the graphics and animations were actually good or great, but they are kind meh/blah. So watching these battles over and over again is really pointless, not beautiful or interesting. It's just this kind of lame interlude between decisions. And as you play the game the effect gets worse. This is a pickaxe digging away at the games replayability. Either clean this area of the game up or get rid of it. To improve this screen, add more variety!!! Add some randomness. Make it entertaining and cool. Or make it look really great with better graphics and animations. Or ditch it. All of this said to the negative the game still has something. It has a kind of draw or "one more turn" effect that is undeniable. There is enough of a difference here from the civ franchise to make this game worth picking up. Especially on sale! I think a lot of the games power comes actually from how the world generation plays out. This game makes some very good maps which I felt civ 6 really struggled with. But it needs a graphics overhaul so badly. That more than anything else I think would aid this title. My soldiers should not, MUST NOT, look exactly the same as the enemy.
Of all the Civ competitors around, this is my current pick. Its ages mechanic gives a lot of replayability and variety between playthroughs. It's moddable, although there aren't a lot of mods around for it at the moment. If the Civ series has you underwhelmed by its recent mediocrity, give Millennia a whirl.
Longtime Civ and Tropico player here and I liked this game, and still play it. I haven't tried the DLCs yet. I like how the timelines can change. I do find the improvement UI a bit hard to use as things move around (ie: where is "Farm", sometimes it is in the lower right, sometimes it moves up higher). Also, i find optimizing my regions a bit hard, setting up trading between regions should be a bit easier, or automated. I also feel like the AI players can get glitched too much and do nothing or make bad attacks. I hope the developers are able to keep making new versions.
Just one more turn... Why is it 5 in the morning? Again...
Good Civ-style game that fixes a lot of the problems in the genre. Sadly the price for that is very generic enemies and shallow diplomacy (though the latter is problem with most 4X).
