Really liked this game. The gameplay is solid, ammo is your money which was interesting, so you have to think about whether to use it or save it to buy stuff. The gas mask thing is cool too, you gotta keep an eye on your filters and it gets tense when you're low. Best part for me was the story though. It's dark and interesting and kept me hooked the whole way through. Got all the achievements so I saw both endings, no regrets. Only downside was some crashing early on, but I fixed it and after that it ran fine. Overall a really solid game, would recommend if you like shooters with a good story.

Phenomenal title. Every NPC has dialogue, the enemies especially, they aren't just targets to shoot at, and if you stick around to listen to them, they have depth. And for a game that is a literal railroad, it is incredibly nonlinear, with most levels having multiple options to achieve the end and many secret areas. Despite my having completed the game four times through (including Ranger Hardcore, great experience) and achieving 100% completion, I doubt I've discovered everything the tunnels of the Metro have to offer. The gunplay is incredibly satisfying, with gun design being unique and varied, every firearm perfectly achieving that "post-apocalyptic" cobbled together look, while staying interesting to use and look at, as well as being surprisingly realistic on the most part. I am a big fan of stealth gameplay in games, and in Metro it is very satisfying. Enemies can be pretty stupid, but I suppose that's something that can't be avoided in any game if you want it to feel fair. Metro also strikes a fantastic balance between stealth and action segments, along with great placement of rest stops with the markets. The progression feels fluid and makes sense, with no issue of segments feeling disjointed or unconnected. The game is simply perfect, very alive with an incredible attention to detail. The story and gameplay combine perfectly, with neither lacking in interest or variety. Characters don't overstay their welcome while staying impactful to the experience. Truly, one of the best games of all time. I got it along with the rest of the series during the Summer Sale and let me tell you, if I could have I would absolutely have paid for all three games and the DLCs separately at full price. I am however, lacking in rounds. Ah well, we can't all be billionaire chuds.
