one of my favourite action games, potentially even OUTRIGHT favourite of all time had this back on the 360, and ended up getting it again to relive the whole game again fantastic combat, fantastic music, fantastic bosses, though fairly short with only 8 chapters + the 2 DLC chapters, with most of that length being Files 1-4 my only major complaint is that, if you're going for completion, you're going to learn to hate the camera, because there times where it will pull out every single mathematical equation it can just to find the exact right spot to screw you over if you can fight the camera, however, then you can fight god himself also this was probably one of the odder ways to start getting into Metal Gear, even if i knew a bit about the series before playing it lmao
highley rec this game for any non metal gear fan too, the camera takes a bit and the parrying but holyy ♥♥♥♥♥ do the bosses rock, besides mistrel + monsoon oh nah. but still every other boss amazing ESPECIALLY normal monsoon and jetstream sam THE GOAT.
I played the OG Metal Gear and its sequel back in the NES days and I saw some friends play Metal Gear Solid and its sequels in later console generations, but for one reason or another I never got around to playing them. That means I have some vague idea of the plots and who some of the characters are, but it's very surface-level. All I knew about this game is that it's more action oriented and it stars Raiden the cyborg ninja guy. I'm honestly impressed at how well it holds up. The gameplay is fun, the story is just as bonkers as I'd expect based on what I know of the franchise and the visuals are still good despite the game's age. It's a solid Metal Gear game, if you'll excuse the pun. Props for that absurd sequence at the start of Chapter 2 when Raiden claims to be wearing a great disguise and he's wearing a poncho and a mariachi hat and two guys wearing the correct northern Mexican clothes look at him like he's insane and one of them says in correct Mexican Spanish "¿Quién es éste wey?" (Who is this dude?) before they decide it's not worth it to get involved and they walk away. And then he runs into a kid in the sewers who yells "Cowabunga!" at him and sings the chorus to Vanilla Ice's "Ninja Rap" because, well, he's a ninja and they're in the sewers.
after all these years still one of the best games
