A fun game overall but it had some hard parts. The balance is just plain off it feels like. I got through maybe 5 or so missions before I needed to turn down the difficulty to story mode because it was just waves and waves of mechs against your 5. I know the tech is better on the Clan ones but it was just too much. Overall the story was interesting but the attitude and superiority of the main cast really started to get hard to listen to after awhile. Playing all the way through you can see that that was the point and a big part of the story, but it was still a slog to get through honestly and took a lot of the fun out of the game. Overall it was fun to play and worth getting while on sale. But I think the OG MW5 is just plain better is almost every aspect.
There are many things that could improve the UI, but if you ignore those; this is the greatest Mech Warrior game ever made. The characters and the stories are insightful.

WASD rebinds are still broken.
This is a bad mechwarrior game, but well produced for a campaign. I don't understand why they bothered to make a good game in Mechwarrior 5 Mercs, and then throw all progress out the window. This game plays like someone's ego trip, which is so frustrating for the majority of the experience. Mods will eventually make this better, shame they missed the mark so hard. Paid 18$ for it on sale, it's not worth a penny more than that.

Enjoyed MW5 mercs, sandbox is cool. This is all story driven, which is great, love a good story and cutscenes. Both are great. Just depends on what you prefer more.
Clans feels like MW2 updated for the modern age and that's great. Fights feels heavy and deliberate while the new lance controls gives you more options to create perimeters and control your star. You experience the invasion from a young star just before the invasion and it feels like it. This would fit in with the Stackpole novels just fine. Not sure why so many people have issues with the game, its exactly what people asked for ... a campaign based game from the Clans perspective ... But i feel like people just like to complain. Its great if you like BT the novels and the Lore this game is for you if you only know it from MWO and are 12 ... i guess complain
Can't turn mech anymore when selecting another one, game breaking bug after years
Very good game, love the attention to detail they put into the lore and characters. My one real complaint is the mission length. If they're going to be that long, they really need checkpoints. Otherwise, had a great time playing it. Lots of fun
I wish the devs were able to incorporate various missions that didn't just escalate in tonnage and amount of mechs thrown at you. It would be nice to still have missions later into the campaign that required speed of lights and mediums for escort or recon style missions that didn't have 15 Assault mechs thrown at you. That said it still scratch the Mechwarrior itch from my childhood. Still would love a MechCommander Gold clone though.
