I was prepared to lose a lot as an extraction shooter - but it's just not fun losing every single match in a gaming night with no feedback over what you did wrong or how you could be better. The "seasons" removing what little progress I made and making me repeat the exact same stuff is just kicking me while I'm down. It was better in the first 2 weeks but as less and less people played the game it gets worse as someone who isn't very good at this genre.
Im Running marathons around this game.
A fun premise that needs to be greatly expanded upon, more maps, more guns, more enemies and more loot. Probably not the best solo experience in my opinion and much better if you have two friends who are dedicated to sticking with it.
I did not think I would enjoy an extraction shooter - but I played the original marathon series and wanted to relive a bit of nostalgia. The game surpassed all expectations. The feel of the weapons, the slow rollout of lore through discoverables, the adrenaline surge of losing it all and gaining it again. Fantastic game.
Feels amazing to be part of this world. Visuals, audio, gunplay is extremely rewarding. I got into marathon without ever playing another extraction shooter, and just jumping in with zero expectations of being able to extract seems to be the right mindset. Get in, shoot some stuff, jump some runners, extract if the chance appears. One tough part is that buying the exact guns I want seems to be limited to later game. Ppeople who dont want to have a automatic AR every game might not like the selection on offer. Only started getting comfortable with the guns when I unlocked Arachne's Ares RG, would like to have a shotgun for purchase too Ui kinda sucks too, added with the hard SF theme, it makes things confusing. Not being able to check shell abilities, drag to swap weapon attachments, or see how your gun fires without opening inventory and hovering are just some of the stuff of the top of my head. Also, the UESC all look the same from far away. Dunno if the guy is going to be a one shot, have shields, or turn invisible once you start shooting. Don't get me started on the main menu. Good thing you can(and should!) just equip a sponsored kit when you're starting out. Looking forward to the PVE mode. Needed a more low stakes gamemode to get used to weapons before diving back into the rest. From starting off solo and getting outplayed by the NPCs to feeling like an actual hunter waiting for someone else to mess up and reveal themselves, its been a great couple of hours. People have been generally fun in trios too. Most are quiet but help with objectives, but once in a while there'll be a console open mic player open to chat and strategize.
This is outside of my 100+ hours on PS5. So much that I enjoy about this game. They've made a fan of me, that's for sure. I will be an individual that keeps coming back.
One of the most intriguing, addicting, beautiful, heart-pounding games I've ever played. The storytelling is experiential, growing and building through the small pieces you find throughout the maps. The visual style and sound design is haunting. The play experience can be directed in so many different ways - roguelike, stealth, extraction. However you like to play, and it is a game that pushes you as a player, tells you it is ok, even purposeful to lose. Because death is not the end. Just a wonder and a joy of a game.
Literally the only extraction shooter I like. Love this game.
Rootin tootin shootin good time, very confusing at the beginning.
i love it
