Availability
We put this game to every storefront we collect. A market that answered not sold has told us something about the game; a market we never asked has not, and the two are never drawn the same.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 36.14/day in the week to Jul 22 → 49.38/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I am old enough to remember the original Marathon on Mac back in the mid 90s. When they announced this game with the original trailer I was super pumped, especially since I was into Destiny at the time like all Bungie games since Halo. I put 200+ hours into this game trying to love it. It is Marathon in name only. Making this thing a PvP extraction shooter was a terrible mistake. The world and atmosphere are the only reason I decided to keep giving it a try. Hope you like being hunted by no-lifers, anything you do in this game is like a dinner bell for super sweats. I guess I'm part of the minority who just want to exfil good loot for upgrades and lore entries. Every game feels like a ranked event with money on the line. Shoot first, then loot. Oh you had a free kit? Get f'd. Marathon in its simplest form could have been a single player campaign experience with an extraction mode added on or some other kind of multiplayer mode. Releasing it like this just confirms that they have no idea how they got to where they are. The Bungie of the 2000s is over, and this might be the last nail in the coffin for them. Maybe the PvE mode will be entertaining enough to bring casual players like me back, but.....they have tainted this game so badly now, I dont think there will ever be a proper Marathon game released again. Sad...

14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 4: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.

Matched by title — a reused name can pair the wrong games. * is a critic aggregate. Prices and positions are each store's United States storefront; Epic charts worldwide. Audience and Score too, except Steam's, which is worldwide.
Build ids and update times come straight from Steam's PICS — the same source SteamDB reads. Patch history grows as we record new builds.

So far, everything about this game interests me. The aesthetic is clean and nuanced, the vibes are immaculate, the gunplay and sound design are up to Bungie's standards. Except for the core genre that it is. Extraction games can be fun as co-op, with friends. They're even better when they're roguelikes. I have ZERO interest in interacting with the PvP in this game- people play like cowards when there are stakes, and losing everything to that kind of 'competition' is just a waste of my time. If Bungie can turn this around into a co-op roguelike, I can see it becoming a favourite. Hell, an offline / non-multiplayer version would be welcome with how long matchmaking can take. If they can't, the only thing Bungie will be turning around is their open sign. In either case, it's not worth the cost of Destiny, Bungie, or full price. Get it on sale if anything to give them the chance to make it good before the Sony guillotine or their own c-suite comes for the servers. I'll come back to this review if they can pivot to a good, permanent PvE experience with meaningful progression and a reason to invest time, but it will remain negative until then.

Too boring to keep me playing
An excellent concept, but lacks innovation, something Bungie used to be known for. Destiny 1 walked so Destiny 2 could run, so Marathon to fall flat on it's face. Thank you Bungie management for single-handedly Destroying your games and studio for fat pay packages.
*Disclaimer:* I have 800+ hours on PS5. Couldn't write a review on the PS store for some reason, but just created my first gaming PC, and I thought why not get Marathon on here too to test out my new machine. Amazing game! Never been hooked to a game like this since OG CoD4/MW2. Being a developer/programmer, I love the themes of this game. Many UI elements mimic a computer terminal or some simplified computer component with some thrown in references to programming jargon. There's always a tension going on in the vibrant yet hostile environments with very simple mechanics (matching color coded keys or shooting panels to turn off hazards; I would like to see newer mechanics). The gameplay is the addicting part. You can infil with no gear or a free kit (best to do often imo) then the map is your oyster. You can also infil with gear you've found from previous runs to gain an advantage over other players. Either play tactically trying to keep noise to a minimum while completing objectives or go gung-ho by blasting anything in sight (I used to play a lot of Metal Gear so the tactical movement fits my playstyle more.) The game has 4 maps, one of which has a night variation so it plays a bit differently. All the maps are a very good size and have a handful of POIs that serve as the main locations to explore and loot. Cryo Archive is the end game map that features very close quarters and many convoluted pathways that eventually lead to a final boss. No other experience in gaming has scratched this itch I never knew I had. Playing end-game content with the hostility of other players and CPU opponents comes off confusing at first yet mysteriously satisfying once it all clicks. Gameplay is solid. The guns have weight to them, and they also have their own special situations in which they'd dominate more so than other situations (SMGs/Shotguns for close quarters & Snipers/ARs for long range). I will say though the sandbox balancing has been a bit all over the place but not so bad that some weapons are completely out of the question (those weapons require a well thought out playstyle/meta to work). With any video game, balancing is tough act to get together and this game does a decent job at it (could be better imo). Some weapons see more love than others from the developers, and I look forward to how this game will evolve with the weapons sandbox next season. My only gripe about the gameplay is the "client side prediction/rewind feature". This feature was implemented as some sort of anti-cheat built deeply with in the game's framework and it is noticeably the source of a lot of desyncs/rubberbanding happening within the game. The story of this game follows its predecessors with a sort of retconned ending(?). Basically the UESC Marathon is a ship that sent a colony of humans to inhabit a new solar system. The shipped was attacked and lost contact with earth. Runners (the mercenaries/plunderers we play as) are sent to scavenge, loot, and defend the interests of other parties (the corps/groups) whilst gaining from the spoils of their labors. Upon reaching the Tau Ceti system, the mystery, rampant AI, and alien foes present a challenge to the runners that are interested in uncovering the truth of what the Marathon's colony succumbed to. Won't spoil much more here, but a lot of terrible things happened to the colonists (plenty of text and audio logs to read; nice callback to the original Marathon games btw). What I'd like to see happen in following seasons are hidden clues to loot or even in-game events that are hidden within the logs. As of now the game's story is very piecemeal since unlocking each part of the codex depends what a Runner exfils with. Very specific items in very specific locations add more details to the story. Final words for this review: It's an amazing game once again. Yes, losing is tough in this game, however, I encourage others that play to try all facets of this game. There are definitely unexplored metas, loot to be gained (or regained) from Rook runs, and plenty of community support in discord groups. Learn from the experiences and take that knowledge further. Record clips of your last moments and think about what you could've done differently. What throwable equipment did you have in your pack before you went down? Did you reload your weapon before climbing up a scaffold on Outpost? Could you have gone to an armory, disarmed claymores and have been more prepared? Did you have a Cardio Kick consumable ready for when final exfil popped? The list of thoughts and questions never end. This game has moments where it feels like a game of chess. I'm always trying to predict where, when, how, and even what my opponents will do. It changes almost every time and that fresh, thoughtful gameplay experience is why I AM HOOKED.
Marathon is completely out of control. The skill gap is absurd, and there’s zero skill‑based matchmaking to balance it out. Every match feels like you’re being thrown into a blender with stacked, kitted squads while you’re running basic gear. Loot progression is a joke. Unless you’re burning gold keys or grinding Outpost/Cryo nonstop, you’re basically locked out of anything worthwhile. Normal play gives you scraps while everyone else runs around fully juiced. Ranked is the worst part. It’s randomized, chaotic, and all you ever face are full‑gold teams or players who are very obviously cheating. There’s no sense of fair competition, no ladder integrity, nothing.
I really hate when there is an end date to an activity. There is no reason.
