Great game you'll never play
Rather crush my ♥♥♥♥ with a rock than play this game bungie is a pathetic excuse that allows cheaters and losers of all flavors to ruin everything they make the name the legacy the company means nothing honestly, if its got bungie on it ill steer clear from now on. ♥♥♥♥ off.
Very enjoyable for the time that I played. The PvE is actually challenging. Winning a fight feels very rewarding. The story and characters are also super fun.
Runs on outpost, heads to Flight Control. Has Misriah (Semi-Auto Shotgun that supposedly slaps), runs into Green shield player hiding around corner with their knife. I have a Blue shield (supposedly stronger). I shoot Green Shield Three times, one in the face, two body shots. Somehow survives, and downs me by melee-ing me, from what I remember it was one heavy attack and like three light attacks. Tell me, how does a Green Shield survive three literally point blank shotgun shots, and out DPS's a Blue Shield. What a clown show of a game. Yea it's fun with friends, but its incredibly inconsistent at the best of times. Classic Bungie murdering the moneymaker that was the Destiny franchise to push something that feels halfway done, and needs ridiculous balancing.
The art style is horrible, too few maps, becomes boring fast, some shells are broken as fk , especially in solo, btw the game is NOT made for solo, weapons would be pretty cool but the art style sucks big time , shooting feels fine because it s Bungie. So, besides weapons, everything else is mid at best .
The lore, art style, and gameplay is all great. There's supposedly a problem with too great a divide between the sweats and the casuals, but it's mostly online.
This game has its pros, but Bungie can't fix two core problems: A. The game is dying B. Is an extraction shooter. This game had potential, but we got what happened when companies choose to follow trends.
I NEED 100000000000000000000 MG OF MARATHON INJECTED STRAIGHT INTO MY BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where do I even start with this review? Been looking forward to this games release for years before it came out, played server slam, and since season 1 dropped I have now clocked just over 750 hours in this game. Since this game has come out I have almost lost will to play any other game that I used to grind before this game released. Despite the rage inducing bugs, unfortunate timing, misplays, skill issues, coping, I still just find myself wanting to play more. to challenge myself and improve upon my skills in this game. No more hero shooters, no other extraction shooters, no more arena shooters, no story games, just marathon and the occasional chill 1-2 hour DbD, OW, or Rivals session with the homies that don't play this game. There has never been a game that gives me the rush that this game gives me, that makes me feel as good as this game does, that makes me yearn and strive for improvement that this game does. It is truly a one of a kind game, with an insanely cool aesthetic and art style, buttery-smooth yet impactful gunplay, skill ceilings for so many different aspects of the game itself let alone each shell. (Don't get me started on the lore, this game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome to any sci-fi nerd). And this is just season 2, I know a huge amount of players gave up after barely even dipping their toes into the water that is this game, but I believe Marathon will have a huge regrowth and resurgence of players as the game goes on and improves upon what it already is with the addition of new modes and more ways to play. If you think it's a skill issue, it is. If you think you can't bridge the gap, you're wrong. This game is just as much strategy and map/environmental knowledge if not MORE than it is gunplay and "skill". This game is a masterpiece in the making. Stop sleeping, stop hating. ESCAPE WILL MAKE ME GOD.
