If you are a fan of the 60's (vibe, cars, music, etc.) this is a no brainer. If you aren't, it's 4-6 dollars for a fun yet repetitive open world ubislop romp to sink a few hours in while you wait for GTA 6 to drop. The repetitive core gameplay loop is done well. Shooting is brutal, driving is weighty, radio music is generational. 6.5 out of 10 but a high 7 in my heart.

good
2.5/5. By far the the weakest entry in the trilogy for me. The positives first: New Bordeaux looks great, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the cutscenes are some of the best in the series. Lincoln Clay is a solid protagonist, and the documentary-style storytelling is unique and keeps the plot interesting. Unfortunately, the gameplay completely drags the experience down. Almost every district follows the exact same formula: drive somewhere, kill enemies, destroy property until a damage meter is full, kill the lieutenant, kill the district boss, assign the district, and repeat. It quickly became repetitive, and by the second half of the game I was forcing myself just to reach the ending. This doesn't really feel like a traditional Mafia game. Mafia 1 and especially Mafia II focused on memorable missions and telling a crime story. Mafia III feels much more like an open-world territory-clearing game with a Mafia setting. The story is good enough that I wanted to see how it ended, but getting there felt like a chore.
Top notch voice acting, animation and facial work wasted on one of the most repetitive game structures I have ever bore witness to. It's almost borderline satirical how redundant the missions are. What a shame, I really wanted to like this game. Also, you'd need some mods or reshades, because this game can look downright atrocious at times. All the other Mafia games are stellar though!
