Although Luxor Solitaire is a basic solitaire game it is very enjoyable and a relaxing solitaire gem. There are not many frills or additions to the basic style play of this solitaire game, but this makes for a game you can play no matter how you are feeling and still get some quality solitaire game play in. There are 120 levels in this game, with many challenging layouts. You must finish a level to open the next level up for play. Each board has it's own layout which may also have certain areas of the layout locked, you can unlock these areas by uncovering a sword or a hammer, which opens up the overgrowth and stone locks. There is also a padlock, on some areas, that is unlocked by carrying on a continuous card play of a certain number. To help you on your way, you win gold at the end of each hand, this gold is used to buy up to three boosters that you keep until used. When you go to the store you have a choice of 5 boosters to pick from which cost different amounts of gold. As a sideline to the game you also have a map of Luxor to view and build different structures to complete the ancient holy city's temples and other sites. You may accomplish this by collecting scarabs while playing levels. The backgrounds and music for the game are very fitting to the subject of this solitaire game. They were both very immersive and lovely to look at and listen to. I never got tired of the music. Although there are no steam achievements there are six in game achievements. Overall I enjoyed the game and recommend it to solitaire players, I rate it a 7/10 in competition with other solitaire games.
«Luxor Solitaire»
Luxor Solitaire (+1/-1 Solitaire) Game provided for Curator review NOTE: This game has no relation to the Luxor marble-popping series - Luxor is simply the name of the city. Options include Full-screen, Widescreen, Custom Cursor and separate sliders for Music and Sound. To amp up the difficulty, you also have an option to play in Relaxed or Timed mode, which give you only 10 seconds to play each card. If you don't play a card in time, you'll have to use an undo (provided that there's a move to make). There is a choice of three different deck styles, and two card-face choices. Backgrounds can be set as wallpapers. The goal of each level is to collect Scarabs, which you will use to build the great city of Luxor. You will also find gold as you play, and you'll use that gold to buy power-ups. You are limited to three boosters at any given time, and if you use one, you'll have to either wait for the next level, or go back to the map to purchase a new one. Powers include Joker, Remove 2 cards, extra Undo, etc. Gameplay is your standard +1/-1 solitaire, where you make the longest number runs that you can in order to increase your gold multiplier. There is also some strategy involved due to the placement of certain items you will need to clear obstacles. For instance, you may have two machetes (for clearing vines) and two sledgehammers (for clearing rock) on the screen, but if you don't clear them in the right order, you may be unable to complete the level! I do like this extra puzzle element, since it adds interest to the game~ :D https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1689512252 In addition to the above-mentioned obstacles, we also have the standard rope (aka Mummy) cards that you have to play twice, as well as cards that will not unlock until you reach a certain multiplier (ie. match 7 cards in a run). Each hand is scored from one to three stars. To obtain all three stars, you'll need to clear every card. You CAN pass a level without matching all of the cards, but only if you collect all of the scarabs. Replaying a level will NOT earn you extra scarabs, though you can earn extra gold this way. There are 120 levels, total, with six in-game trophies that you can earn along the way. Usually I do not review games until I've completed them, but this will be my zen game for quite a while, I think, so you get the review early~ Recommended for fans of the number-run solitaire style who like to just relax when they play.
If you love Egyptian themed games then this is probably a must-buy for you - the background Egypt landscapes are gorgeous. That said, this is mostly your typical solitaire game with a couple differences. You do choose cards one number higher or lower than your deck card - that's the same. But the "store" is quite different. There's no place to buy permanent boosts. Instead, before each hand, you're allowed to buy three things to help you. Let's see if I can remember them: a joker, a way to make two face-up cards disappear, a way to add 5 cards to your hand, an extra undo (you get just one per level otherwise), and a way to see the top card of your turned-down deck. All of these cost money but not a lot. I've never had problems buying whatever I need. I normally get one joker and then two of the ones that boot two face-up cards from the board. So you could get three jokers if you wanted. In most of these solitaire games you have blocked cards that need keys or have vines that need swords and so on. This one is no different but there are two things of note. One is that there are combo locked cards. Meaning you need to make a combo of the number on those locked cards before you can use that card. (So far the numbers have been 5 and 7). Which makes the jokers extremely helpful in helping to get that combo. Also, there are cemented cards that need hammers and vine cards that need swords BUT there's a lot of strategy involved because most of the time there are multiple cemented cards or vined cards to choose from so you need to decide which would be the most beneficial for you to unlock first. You can play in two modes: relaxed or timed. Why anyone would want to play timed is beyond me though because part of the fun in solitaire is choosing the best cards to clear from the board first and that's difficult if you feel rushed. But if you enjoy timed, go for it. There are in-game achievements. Not many and I don't think they're super difficult to unlock and I also don't think any of them require you to play in timed mode. As well as gathering money from clearing cards, there are scarab beetles underneath some card piles and these are your ultimate goal. Collect them and use them to build an Egyptian city. You need a certain number of beetles to purchase a building but when you have that amount, the game will take you directly to your city so you don't have to worry about counting your scarabs. I'm trying to think if there are any other points to make. Well, I hope I haven't missed anything. I'm personally really enjoying the game so I thought I'd write this review to let my friends (and others) know. :)
While this game has its share of small bugs (for instance I've already noticed other games, probably by the same developer, tend to incorrectly mark a hammer card as 'missed' when it's laying on the ground unused because there are no associated cards available to play), it was rather enjoyable overall. Cons: - The music can get on your nerves quickly... I'd recommend turning it off. - They probably had zero testing on layout difficulty. One of the first page's stages is very hard to complete without a power-up, when it should still be sort of a tutorial. I spent something like half an hour trying to get through levels 34 and 41 (among others), while I finished half of the levels on the first try without any power-ups. - There's a fading animation each time you interact with the menu. The programmer probably thought it looked cool. When you have to wait an extra second every time you want to buy a power-up, it's infuriating. - No Steam achievements. I got all in-game achievements, but I feel sad I didn't get to increase my perfect game counter. - There's a limit of 3 power-ups per level. Given that winning a stage only unlocks the next one, it means in some situations some players might end up rage-quitting because they just can't pass a level. Pros: - It's very challenging, probably one of the hardest I've played. And believe it or not, that's enough for me to recommend it, but only to casual players who want a more difficult game once in a while.

A decent solitaire game with an Egyptian theme. You complete a set, move on to the next. There are a lot of them. You earn money for power ups and scarabs to build your city (which is pretty basic) by going through the cards in each set. You can set a 10 sec timer on a card to add challenge. Simple, but enjoyable. 7/10
