As a game, it's pretty trivial, but it does have a few engaging puzzles. The voice acting is annoying, especially that of the boy with the Mohawk.

Felt like a real adventure and was glad to use some brain cells during it

Lost Lands 9 is about prequel events narrated by Susan. As such it can be played out of order from the rest of the series. Myself, I played it after Lost Lands X. It is a decent Hidden Object Mystery with an excessive amount of fetch quests. One of the puzzles was too tedious for me to solve so I copied down the solution from the in-game strategy guide. This earned me an achievement for solving it in a minimal number of moves, which is an odd flex. The Steam blurb and title is somewhat grand and misleading. The game basically entails a two day period where young Maaron and Folnur meet and team up to take down a ghost from a lost civilization. Mentor Cassandra returns from Mistakes of the Past. Given the nature of it being a prequel, I found the stakes felt lower risk than most of the series. I definitely enjoyed the space-filling bonus game where a sliding puck needs to cover the arena in paint, but it becomes blocked by its own trail. An odd gripe I have with this series is the lack of a Credits page. I tend prefer it when developers get their names in print.

I love the whole Series of Lost Lands I - X plus this one. One of the best I know. nice Story, no Glitches.

Reluctant thumbs-up. GET IT ON A DISCOUNT! In my opinion, this is the best game series in the genre. However, this is the worst game in the series. They didn't try hard to make a cohesive story. (One example is they portrayed two people being roughly the same age, even though in multiple previous games, they said one of them was far, far older.) I had to use the hint way too many times in the main games (not in what few hidden object scenes they had). Pros: - It is still a quality game compared to many that are out there. - They put effort into making the mini puzzles creative and not just the same tired old puzzles you see elsewhere. Other Cons: - Although the mini puzzles were creative, some were going to be just so tedious that I skipped them. (I always skip some mini puzzles in every HOG I play, but I skipped more in this not due to difficulty but due to not wanting to be bored for 20 minutes.) - Like the previous game, I had to lower my resolution to 1920x1080 to make the mouse big enough to easily see when it changed. - There were many times when you had to remember a code and they didn't put it in a journal or give you a piece of paper. And sometimes the symbols weren't even in the same room as the lock. It's just annoying. I'm not here to test my ability to memorize a long string of non-sensical symbols.

The first of the Lost Lands series I didn't totally love. There's something off with the difficulty of the puzzles - sometimes too trivial, sometimes too hard. Was this play-tested like the previous games in the series? It's a pity because it's a wonderful series otherwise.

I am over 65 and new to gaming. I don't go in for those racing and shooting games. These games have a story line, good graphics that are not all fluffy and Easter colored and require some figuring on the players part. Some of the games are quite challenging...I have spent way too long figuring some of them out but that's the challenge right! These are relatively inexpensive and I have found them to have great entertainment value.

Great game! I enjoyed it and I recommend it to anyone who likes these kinds of games...
