An interesting take on 'brick breaker', combining it with bullet hell elements and bosses. A solid game overall.
Do you remember the game Brick Out or Arkanoid? Well if you do now add baseball to to the picture and here is "Aliens GO Home Run". While the game is simple, fun and keeps you playing(most important). I found several minor bugs/issues! The bonus stage targets kinda filled the screen and helped maximize my points... No biggie but it brings up your statistics. The other was while fighting bosses, even after being hit multiple times it continued to left me proceed with the destruction of the Bosses. Lol while these are no big issue, they do effect the games statistics. So would this stop me from recommending the game?. No, infact I will go all out and say this is truly a HOME RUN!
Brick breaker with some decent challenge with its bullet hell elements and boss rush mode. Was surprisingly fun little snack game. 7/10.
My boss rush run
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2lBUd5Q30E Follow my Steam Curator for more: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43514354/
It's alright. For a small game that's cheap, it has a nice premise. My biggest complaint is that it gets repetative. The music and the gameplay both kind of wear on you by level 7 of any given section (10 levels each). If you like these type of breakout-style games, then give it a try. It has a lot of charm--I personally like your three hits as "strike 1, 2 and 3"--but lack of variety keeps me from recommending it. I'd encourage the developer to keep that style they made for the intro. That was a nice throwback to the simple and fun video game intros.
A solid arcade experience that truly deserves to have it's own Arcade machine, this screams classic, and it was made with a huge passion, if you were the kid that liked to go to the arcades to play games of all kinds this is a must have for your collection Fantastic music, fun gameplay, and ridiculously cheap, absolutely recommend it

AGHR does arcade / replay value correctly, and is worthwhile / fun for the price - it put a smile on my face =) Reminds me of: If you liked Strikey Sisters , you'll probably like Aliens Go Home Run. Pros + - Takes the old Brick Breaking game concept, and breathes a lot of new life into it, while still remembering what makes this genre fun to begin with. - Casual arcade fun, but enough going for it that there's lots to challenge you if you feel like mastering it. - Lots of replay value. - Game graphics are retro pixil-ish, but in a good way. Almost Super Nintendo, but not quite 16 bit, if that helps you ;) - Sound is fun and fitting for an arcade title. - Gameplay is tight and responsive. If you make a mistake, it's on you buddy! Cons - - I know the game is going for a NES retro look, but the User Interface was slightly distracting in how unattreactive it was on the starting menus and level select. Not a big deal or game changing, but that's my gripe. - Could use a few more music tracks (gets a bit repetitive on long plays).
Looks like an arcade classic from the mid-90s. Plays like a Popcap game back when Popcap made good games. The level editor could use a little TLC, but the main game is great. One of the problem with Arkanoid / Breakout style games on console or PC is that sort of game was designed to use a paddle or a trackball. Without a paddle or trackball, you're stuck with a joystick, console controller, keyboard, or mouse. Mice usually have a little too much precision and the other control options usually don't have enough. This game fixes that problem by tossing the paddle idea and giving you a character to control. Instead of a paddle, you're a baseball player, which means you have a bat with which to aim the ball in a specific direction. This makes ball control a lot easier. Since breaking bricks is easier, enemies are added to harass the player. To deal with this, the player's dash nullifies the bullets, but only if you use it with good timing. The enemies' attack just oten enough that you can't just ignore them, but the primary objective is still busting bricks. Frankly, I wish I had thought of all this myself. Aliens Go Home Run is a fantastic game, and well worth your time. (Game was recieved for free for review purposes through the Curator Connect program.)
How often can you clone arkanoid? Obviously quite a lot of times! This itteration has a baseball player fighting off invading aliens. Well, why not... It has competent controls, a nice background that doesn't obfuscate the action and actually is fun to play. Most of the game is as expected. But it also has major differences that go really well with the theme. First of all, the ball drops on the lawn. It doesn't mean you lost, it just means you need to go there and hit it. This actually makes the game a bit of a shoot'em up, because stage four power-up is a projectile shot, that makes the ball completely obsolete for 30 shots. Second, you have to hit the ball, you are a baseball player with a bat. When you hit it, there are four direction the ball can take, and you control exactly each direction by facing left or right and "aiming" (pressing) up. Third, it has a simple dodge mechanic, because aliens shoot at you and you know how to slide to the next base. It is actually well thought through! But there are also two downsides to this game. A) The sound needs a complete overhaul to remove the subtle but hearable static or noise. B) The visuals surrounding the game need a bit of polish. The lecel select screen is straight up hideous. Why not make some kind of "innings board"? If you like hard, challenging arkanoid games, baseball and space invasions, you have found your dreamgame. Price is good, and the value definitely is there.
