Lost Chronicles of Zerzura.

Anyways.
Pretty decent point & click adventure game. Probably will be appreciated the most by people who are nostalgic for these types of games, somewhat outdated in the graphics and animation department. Decent plot, fully voice acted game. No impossible puzzles or solutions (as long as you remember that right click items is a thing you can do), sadly no achievements. Probably not a game that will stick to my memory for years to come, but I enjoyed my time playing it. I encountered one bug where the game crashed on alt-tabbing, but it only happened the once. Of course after I'd played it for 2+ hours and it hadn't been autosaved yet, so had to start over entirely ._. From what I could tell, it only autosaves the once in the game, after 'chapter 1'? Not the best system, so remember to save occasionally.
Great point & click adventure. A must have for adventure games fans. Pick up objects and use through the inventory. Great graphics and sound. Finish it on windows 10 in about 9 hours.
The German Cranberry Productions did not develop many adventure games, but the ones they did, well, left a mark, and usually not for the better: their collaboration with Jane Jensen (of Gabriel Knight fame) in Gray Matter was, generally, mediocre and tonally all over the place [CORRECTION: this one was developed by the french Wizarbox with some names from Zerzura working on it], and their collaboration with the Lucasarts seniors in Mata Hari was something to forget about. But their Black Mirror III was an expansive, obsessive adventure that was just a bit short of the brilliance of the second game (developed mainly by Kingart under the Cranberry umbrella) and, this one, Lost Chronicles of Zerzura, is probably their best and one of the better adventures of that fashion. A typical old fashion colonialist adventure like we all know and love, where the Spanish empire are the evil guys (in reality the Spanish empire did not ever get to do much: we were always too inept for that, so our harm basically was done in the Americas, thanks, that is my illiterate opinion) and it plays with a historicism that, actually, works as a beautiful fantasy story. The McGyver mechanics, justified by the plot, mix with a Renaissance Da Vinci sensitivity that turns into very fun inventory object puzzles, and this is the best part of the game, among with some decent characterisation and really nice production values. As in most modern adventures you won't need to pixel hunt because of the hotspot key (spacebar), so you can focus on the puzzles all the time. Now, on the bad things, the pace is a bit uneven, the game feels quite empty (a common problem in the Cranberry point n click games) and it goes from extremely linear to just a bit less linear but with not much guidance. But anyway, a very very enjoyable game. Usual caveat: if you like point n click games of course.
pros + gorgeous looking and detailed pre rendered background graphics. + a intriguing and exciting historical story filled with twists and turns + there are plenty of different, interesting and exotic locations + enjoyable puzzles. they are not too easy or overly complicated. there are also inventory puzzles you can combine some items. + good character animations + there are a few enjoyable mini games. + intriguing main and side characters who have well-developed and realistic personalities + decent voice acting + good looking character models + fun to watch hand drawn cutscenes + there is auto save + when you press to space, hotspots highlighted so no need to pixel hunting + user-friendly point and click interface + good soundtrack + lengthy adventure cons - a hint system would be helpful. sometimes you don't know what was supposed to do - there are some slow paced parts. - there are no Steam achievements - game doesn't drop any cards Overall this is a high quality and polished old school point and click adventure game and i think one of the best adventure game i ve ever played. i quite enjoyed and i really recommended it to adventure gamers.
Lost Chronicles of Zerzura was like a good book - I couldn't put it down. I liked the characters, and the voice acting for them was decent. The puzzles were challenging and really made me think. I also liked the art and music. I'm glad that I randomly picked this game out of my massive collection to play; to overlook this gem would have been a pity. I noticed one thing that was frustrating, though - It was easy to accidentally skip dialogue by pressing the mouse button, and there appeared to be no way to replay it.
