Christmas Stories: Nutcracker Collector's Edition

An okay HOPA game with the Nutcracker Suite playing in the background and lots of Christmas decorations providing a seasonal feel. I didn't find the game very interesting overall, despite having a variety of puzzles (minigames). If you're looking for something very casual and seasonal, with a bit of a story and some HO scenes, this is probably worth picking up, but look for a good sale. Pros: - three difficulty settings, interactive map, integrated Guide - variety and range of minigames (several challenging) - cute collectible dolls in each room - good voice acting - nice cut-scenes (mini-movies) - if you like cats, the bonus chapter is for you! [added to review] Cons: - older look and feel - a lot of back-tracking - unclear who the protagonist is or what is going on (there's a few mentions of Christmas magic, but nothing helpful - general lack of excitement (my entirely subjective opinion); I tried but never got engaged in the story ~ Imp

В игре присутствуют внутреигровые гайды и достижения(жаль их нет в самом стим), также жаль не поддерживает русский язык(было бы приятно, чтобы хотя бы ии перевод был) очень приятная для глаз рисовка и анимации, видно, что делали с душой ещё жаль, конечно, что как я и говорил, нет достижений в стим(было бы классно оформить картинки в рождественском стиле) или товаров за очки, фоны и т.д игра детства, проходил её давно много раз, поэтому играл на хардкоре(но один раз пришлось ставить на среднюю сложность ради пропуска мини-игры, поэтому и не получил внутриигровое достижение)

I love Hoffmann's Nutcracker story, but this game doesn't have anything in common with it (except for some evil mice). Yes, I know it is not supposed to be a retelling; still, I expected some mentions of the candy country, Drosselmeier's story, or the clockwork house. Instead I had to trudge through snowy fields, dungeons, mines, collapsed libraries, without any fairy tale feeling or Christmas feeling. You have to walk back and forth a lot on the map, and the puzzles are greatly unbalanced. Overall it was a disappointment for me; the Living Legends series and A Christmas Carol / Tin Soldier were much better fairy tale inspired games.

Not gonna lie, this was a lot of fun. Just good, simple fun. Also,it basically works on the steamdeck- I didn't do anything special. The keyboard didn't come up when making a player name, but as it's not required for the game, that was fine.

[h2] A Good Start to a Festive Hidden Object Game Series! [/h2] The festive cheer and joy month has arrived, so I chose to celebrate; I would play through several holiday-themed games or ones that fit with this time of the year. So, to begin, I’ve decided to play the first game in the [i]Christmas Stories[/i] series, which is based on the famous Nutcracker story but slightly different. As an unnamed protagonist, we’ve been invited to the Royal Christmas Ball, but we’re running late. When we arrived, we missed the party. The only thing for us is a present under the Christmas tree. However, it turns out the Nutcracker is inside. He informs us that the evil Rat King kidnapped Princess Mary, who is currently in doll form. It is up to us, along with the help of a few little sidekicks like a living candle and a talking cat, to save the princess and stop the plot of the toothy monster. We also learned the backstories of our nut-cracking friend, the princess, and the Rat King himself. As an adaptation of the famous Nutcracker story, this one was interesting but good. All the scenes and locations you travel through are beautiful, capturing the feel of winter and Christmas. Furthermore, you can find doll collectibles as you go through, so keep your eyes peeled. The HO scenes weren’t too tricky, but I had to look a little closer a couple of times. There were also various puzzles scattered throughout that weren’t too difficult, except for one or two that really made me scratch my head. But, as you play further, back-tracking does become more of a thing, and I know how that can dampen some people’s experiences. A cool bonus chapter with cats has been included if you've played through the main game. I didn’t encounter any bugs. I saw other reviews mention them, so maybe things have been fixed. I recommend this game and its series if you want something seasonal and relaxing. It’s a great start that is delightfully surreal, engaging, and entertaining! [h1] 4 out of 5 ★★★★☆! [/h1]

Unfortunately this game was a bust. Gameplay felt exceptionally long for the type of story that it was. Normally when I play holiday themed games, I like for them to feel "holiday-ish" and this certainly didn't. Only thing holiday about it was the random music and the decorations throughout the scenes. Lots of going back and forth in scenes. Definitely wouldn't want to play this without use of the map and actions available. I didn't even play the bonus level because I simply wanted to be done

great game enjoyed playing it, soundtrack is nice, visually very nice, story itself is cool and you can actually feel christmas atmosphere, highly recommended if you like this type of games, the only drawback might be a bit poor performance sometimes with significant frame drops, the only annoying thing is you have to either change your screen resolution in order to play in full screen or you will have a bit of screen missing on the right unless of course you play in window mode which is a bit small and cannot be adjusted

Ein kleines aber feines Spiel. Die Story und das Spiel sind schön gestaltet. Genau richtig, um in Weihnachtsstimmung zu kommen. :)
