Long after the passing of the Second Shadow, when dragons ruled the twilight sky and the stars were bright and numerous, came the Age of the Great Guilds. Blacksmiths. Shepherds. Clerics. Each dedicated to the absolute control of secret knowledge. Another such Guild was the Weavers.

It would be cool if this worked on MacOS 26.
Precioso.

It plays very well (after I figured out, that it has an actual safe option and I don't have to start over, because I forgot to safe but that's a story for another day..). The story makes sense, the music is very well chosen, a lot of "Wait what?!" moments, a lot of laughter and some rollercoaster of emotions.
Loom is a charming game set in a fantasy world of guilds. The main character solves problems by using spells made of musical notes. Looks old fashioned now but it still plays really well.
Another classic point-and-click adventure that, on it's surface, seems more child-facing than it's contemporaries—probably because it's very fable-like. Notable for it's melody-based magic interfacing and the ad for it in The Secret of Monkey Island. This is the 1992 version, with voice acting, which was truncated (and censored) to fit on CD-rom. The full, text-only version is probably superior, as the ending seemed less rushed and more impactful than here. Sadly, it didn't sell well enough, nor accumulate a large enough fanbase, to merit a Secret of Monkey Island–style special edition which could have included and/or integrated all versions. This is why capitalism simply doesn't work. Still a cool game.
aaaahhhhhh, to play Loom again, after all these years, it looks as beautiful as i remember, an absolute classic of the good ole point n click days, if your investigating the era, you have found a gen right here
Very cute music based game, so sad the sequels never got made! The lore is amazing, but listen to the audio drama first! The puzzles were simple but still made me think, and the story is amazing.
This was probably one of the first (if not THE first) game I played with voice acting. The voice actors really made an effort even if it wasn't the British acting company. It was a new and interesting world to me though maybe a little confined. I played the original CD version as part of a Sound Blaster / CD ROM drive package in the early 90s. The Steam version worked well for me, though it had some troubles when I would Alt + Tab as normal keyboard control stopped working. Hitting Alt + M restored keyboard functions (F5 save menu for example) after returning to the game. Edit: It does limit you to a rather small window size. I don't know if there is a workaround, but I played it as is. Overall, it is an old, somewhat short game, but you can tell the team put their hearts into this.
