The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition

The absolute blueprint for point-and-click adventures, and this remaster nails the face-lift without losing the original soul. Solving the absurd puzzles and mastering insult sword fighting feels just as brilliant today as it did decades ago. The ability to swap between the gorgeous modern graphics and the classic pixel art on the fly is the ultimate chef's kiss. It's a short, hilarious, and mandatory piece of gaming history.

One of the best click adventure games from the 80ties. It is full of jokes and the special edition lets you jump back and forth between modern and classic look in very scene. The only downside is that some of the riddles are hard to solve and nowadays player may not have enough patience to sort them out.

You have to get a mod just to get voice acting with the old graphics style. What an obvious oversight, just makes these remasters seem like lazy cash grabs.

Vorweg ein tolles Spiel. Ein Klassiker. Mein zweitliebster Monkey Island Teil ( Teil 3 Nummer 1 ) und so weiter ABER ich mag diese "neue" Grafik nicht und wollte in der alten Grafik spielen, da diese aber nur als Englische Version verfügbar ist gibt es von mir eine negative Bewertung. Wie schwer kann es heutzutage sein ein mittlerweile 35 Jahre altes Spiel die Deutsche Übersetzung beizufügen ( die es ja schon gibt ) ohne das man auf irgendwelches ewig nervige rumgepatche zurückgreifen muß. Achja und diese Steuerung in der neuen Fassung ist einfach nur nervig. Sehr nervig. Mit Controller ja ok aber mit der Maus und ohne die Befehle am unteren Bildschirmrand... wie gesagt nervig. Wie gesagt wer mit der neuen Grafik zurechtkommt kann es gerne kaufen aber man muß eben wissen das wenn man auf die alte Grafik wechselt es eben nur in Englisch ist - und auch das alte Menü ( welches im Original keine Bildchen hatte sondern nur aus Text bestand ) zu dem Menü aus Monkey Island 2 geändert wurde.

Obviamente es una leyenda este juego pero esta versión es una cagada, si le das a "F10" para jugar con los gráficos o apariencia vieja no te traduce los textos al español, te obliga a jugarlo con los gráficos remasterizados, si sabia que era asi ni lo compraba, porque lo voy a tener que jugar pirata por el scumm

CLASSIC

I took this at a slow pace and played with someone else. This is a classic for a reason; it's full of terrifically silly fun, and uses a bevy of mechanics to keep your brain stretching for creative solutions. The game is fair, ad as far as I can tell, can't be made unwinnable. There's not really any moon logic here. Any time we were hitting a wall, we could generally chalk the issue up to parts of the map left unexplored. The new soundscape and voice acting brings everything alive, and I like switching back and forth between the old pixel art and the new painted style. both had their ups and downs, so having both was definitely a boon. Recomended!

Some very annoying puzzles but few games will make you feel as smart as an arcane point & click. Also, it is very funny and has good writing. Just don't use a guide unless you really have to. I'd like the game a lot less if I let the internet tell me how to do everything.
