The Architect: Paris

Since there was no official announcement in any way I feel like I need to warn you - the company that made this game was closed due to bankruptcy, no longer exists nor works on this or any other game. You can find this information only if you know where and what to look for. We haven't heard from the devs anywhere since then - they just suddenly closed their page and cut off all of the contact. Game is very buggy and unfinished and obviously won't be developed or patched anymore. If you still want to buy it anyways you have to keep in mind that money you will pay most probably won't reach the developers at all. It's a shame because it got a chance to be a very interesting and creative game :(

Bonjour, La société ENODO GAMES a fait faillite (Jugement prononçant la liquidation judiciaire datant du 19/05/2022). Le jeu pourtant prometteur ne sera donc plus continué. C'est dommage. Attention STEAM continue de le référencer et de le vendre.

Company no longer exists, game is no longer being finished.

New and old user's here is some clarification to the status of the game, copied and pasted. I did not write any of the following words in quotations. "Hello, indeed our company was put in judicial settlement at the beginning of February However, there is currently a takeover offer in progress which will be presented to the Paris court very soon and which could allow us to continue our activity. As soon as this decision will be taken we will obviously keep you informed of the events to come in the next months." As you can read above their was an issue with the company, The company/Devs have not since reached out the community. And since than the Paris courts have placed Enodo Games in "in receivership" Development will not continue on the game. So be aware the game in it's current is almost unplayable, with constant crashes, bugs and many more issues. Buy and play at your own risk knowing nothing is or will change, and because of this I do not recommend the game.

Game has never been finished. No updates

I would definitely not recommend this game due to the following issues: Technical: The game initially ran very good on my gaming computer, however, it now lags beyond any playability. I am unsure if this is due to a developer, Steam, or Windows update, but is nonetheless unacceptable. Content: The developers promised to continually update the game with additional content. This has not happened. There are also absolutely no Steam Workshop content for the game. This lack of updates and user-created content would be tolerable if the game itself has sufficient content. One would think that with such a narrow scope for the game - one that simply allows you to redesign the architecture of Paris - that this shouldn't be a problem. It would be merely a case of the developers placing as many building textures into the game as possible - the game engine simply pastes these different textures on the 3D building shapes you specify. However, impressively, the developers seems to have fallen short on that too. I cannot describe the library of different buildings styles as anything but disappointing. The range of styles is very limited, with many styles being very crudely rehashed into visually disagreeable versions to artificially bulk up the library. Typically, for each architectural style (e.g. Haussmann, Brooklyn, Amsterdam) there is a "People" version with a random hodge-podge of different coloured panels, a "Planet" version with wooden panels and preposterously misplaced Savonius wind turbines, and a "Profit" version that is has just painted all black, as painting a building black somehow makes it more profitable in this world... There is absolutely no provisions to modify any of the colours or textures of the buildings. You can only very basically change the 3D shape and insert "Accents", which are basically just windows that jut out of the walls. While I'm have virtually zero experience in game programming, I am certain a simple colour filter system for the textures would have been very easy to implement. You are also in no way allowed to have more than one façade texture on any building, say, if you want the ground floor to be cafes and shops, and the floors above apartments. Only two designs in the entire library - Haussmann and HLM 2 allow you to do that. The travesty in that - alongside limiting design variation - is that Paris and most European cities are based on such mixed-use vertically-zoned building designs! In summary, I would think very hard about downloading and playing this game if it was completely free, and I would then probably decide not to bother. Certainly not worth the price-tag, even if that price-tag was free.

Refunded only 30 minutes in. So I had this game on my wishlist for a while, I got the game, Super excited, AND HOLY S**T. This was the worst let down of all time, the tutorial was a bit frustrating, but when I wanted to do a sandbox and basically turn Paris into an American backyard in like 2050. It crashed while loading. Which I kind of saw. Then I reloaded the game again and again. It never loaded, crashed on start. I tried seeing if anything would happen if I would uninstall+ reinstall. Same thing. I decided to refund this so it wouldn't be an absoulute waste. Think 2nd before buying. (sidenote) If someone has any idea on how I can fix this. I am open to buying the game again. My computer packs a punch, Escpecially Cities Skylines 2 unironically. I've enabled comments for this btw.

game is unplayable in sandbox mode

C'est marrant deux minutes mais en vrai, ça devient vite lassant. Ce n'est pas la faute des devs dans la mesure où leur studio a fait faillite et donc c'est naturel qu'il ne soit plus du tout mis à jour mais ne vous faites pas avoir. La prise en main se fait relativement facilement mais j'aurais préféré qu'on puisse réaliser de véritables modules sur nos architectures et non pas devoir découper une surface en zone et apposer un pattern assez random. En plus, certains éléments pourtant clés de Paris ne sont pas modifiables (moi qui rêvais de donner enfin une jolie tête à la tour Montparnasse). Un très très gros potentiel mais ultra mal utilisé et encore plus maintenant que plus aucuns dev ne travaille sur le projet.
