About
Livber: Smoke and Mirrors is an interactive psychological horror story shaped by your choices: one steeped in love, obsession, and madness. Every decision you make, every step you take, will pull you deeper into your own personal insanity.
Lilith, whom you believed dead for years, calls to you with nothing but a letter, summoning you back to the old house, silent witness to your past. Inside the letter, there is only an address and a few haunting lines:
"I will birth our creation in our home. Come, and crown us in the dark. You and I must always be one."
And so, on a night drowned in rain, you return. Through the windows, candlelight flickers, proof that someone is inside.
Lilith… or whatever remains of her.
Within those walls, long-buried memories resurface: betrayal, passion, and wounds that never healed. Lilith has been waiting, not just for reunion, but to complete a dark plan set in motion years ago. And with every question you ask, you’re pulled further into a reality that no longer feels like your own.
Livber: Smoke and Mirrors is a text-based interactive fiction game in the choose your own adventure tradition. Your choices don’t just influence your next move; they reshape the entire narrative. The doors you open, the questions you choose to ask, or the silence you choose to keep, can all lead you to different paths, different fates.
As you’re pulled through these dark halls by Lilith’s obsessions, no choice is right or wrong. Every decision alters how the story unfolds. And in the end, when the sins you tried to bury rise through the soil, all that remains is who you’ve become.
At every step, one question will haunt you:
"Who do you become when the one you love is gone?"
With over 60,000 words, Livber: Smoke and Mirrors is a dark psychological thriller about how love can decay, how longing can twist into obsession, and how sometimes, to love is to destroy.

A haunting thriller that explores various complex themes such as love, free will, and betrayal. The writing, music, and art are all uniquely evocative and do an excellent job of setting the atmosphere. For a majority of the game, the poetic and mysterious tone of the text works perfectly to this effect, but there are some moments where it felt like it could have benefitted from being clearer - particularly when it came to revealing and conveying key details of the plot. I also felt that the
meta interactions with the narrator
felt somewhat out of place in the overall narrative. But I definitely recommend this game if you're interested in an intriguing, thoughtful, and atmospheric experience.
This game is as I hoped it would be. It has its creepy moments, the artwork is great, and the story is not bad at all. There ware many twits along the way that was really fun to stumble across as well. The bg music was perfect! Me and my community had lots of fun playing through it, and a few moments were we had collective ewww moments. What I would have wished for was to have a couple of things: 1. Skip button, for when your just looking for endings, and you really do not need the full start one more time, also for when you hit an ending you already had 2, More voiced, I know its a visiual novel, but specially on stream, your voice wears out in the end. 3. possible chapter select if you wanted to try again form a certain point to test things (only availible after you find this place in the story of course) I am still missing a few endings myself, and I do not intend to quite until I find them!
Some translation and editing errors, but otherwise the writing is incredible and evokes the sort of creeping dread you want from psychological horror. It's confusing and weird in the best possible way, making you want to run through multiple times to get answers and see the differences your choices make. Some are subtle-- slight variations in dialogue or actions --but others are so big they change the course of the whole story. The art is perfectly matched to the atmosphere, and the movement tracked to the cursor gives an eerie, unsettling effect. The music is a little high in volume for my liking, but is well composed and performed, changing with the situations in the story for an excellent horror experience. Highly recommend playing!
there were indeed...smoke and mirrors
Came for the mysterious hot living dead witch girlfriend, stayed for the delicious grief meat. Gross, gothic, emotional, and genuinely memorable. The branching can get a little exhausting and I wish the cosmic horror angle had more payoff, but the core story about guilt, memory, and refusing to let the dead stay dead really got under my skin. Not flawless, but absolutely worth the trip into the basement.
Livber: Smoke and Mirrors is an absolute must-play!
From the very first moment, it’s clear you’re in for a psychological journey rather than just another game. The story instantly hooks you — mystery, unease and a sense of looming danger pervade every scene. The tale of Lilith is truly a puzzle, and your choices genuinely shape the outcome. 🕯️ The visuals deserve special praise: it’s like stepping into living paintings. The gothic atmosphere, moody and rich in subtle details, makes exploring every screen a unique experience. 🎨 But the biggest surprise for me was the music! The soundtrack is simply stunning — sometimes I found myself putting the mouse down just to sit and listen. Some tracks sent shivers down my spine and completely immersed me in the world. 🎶 Honestly, I wanted to linger in this musical realm for as long as possible. What’s also impressive is that the game doesn’t feel formulaic or artificial. Everything is crafted with real passion and care. Multiple endings encourage replaying, and each journey feels new and surprising. If you love atmospheric visual novels, unique horror experiences, and great music — I genuinely recommend Livber: Smoke and Mirrors! It’s one of those games you keep thinking about long after the credits roll. 🌑✨ Gameplay: https://youtu.be/pZHlzdjjYus
Its my first visual novel that I bought as I recently started to get into it. Story is engaging. The atmosphere, writing, and music all blend beautifully. Characters, question and author's reply draw me deeper in the story. So far so good.
An intriguing story that makes you go HUH at every turn... Invokes a lot of visceral imagery through words alone... Not for the faint of heart - and perhaps that's a good thing!
I like the game especially musics and illustrations and their caused athmosphere. Story was good and compelling. I like the Lilith mith and i think developers done a good job with the mith. So in the end thats my honest reaction... https://r.resimlink.com/J9a-MLRqNnu.png
