The Wolf of Derevnya

I rolled off the stove and pet the cat - 10/10 would recommend. This game is very engrossing and atmospheric, with dialogue and characters that seem very real. The setting is fascinating and while I had to look up a couple of words I found myself interested to learn more about the time and place. It's curious how even some little choices and options in the game seem weighty - do I bring my sword with me when I go places? What if I need it? Should I drink the tea someone offers me? Should I stick around town or explore farther into the dark woods? It feels like it takes some real bravery, which I wasn't expecting from a choose-your-own-adventure style of game. Good stuff.

Great, creepy visual novel. Bless, you can pet the cat nearly as often as you wish to. Plenty of funny moments to help you briefly forget how messed up your situation is. I hate Onfim. I love weird little dudes. Edit: Now I feel badly about what I said.

i've never played a visual novel with this many choices that felt like they mattered! it felt like playing dnd! Was really sweating at some of these choices too...

Chapter Seven is gamebreakingly bugged and the devs haven't responded to anything about it for over a month.

This is a super enjoyable little murder mystery visual novel I'm very impressed by it; the writing is stellar and the characterisation is very well-realised despite a short run-time. I'd love to figure out all this game's secrets, it's going to take me a few replays to figure out how to save as many villagers as I can

Best described as a visual novel, this horror noir / choose your own adventure game uses literary language to send the user to medieval Russia as a nomad who wanders into a village with a monster problem. If you love language, this game is right up your alley. Be sure to examine the chickens.

I SHOULD PROBABLY SLEEP BUT THIS IS A GOOD GAME

A chilling and compelling story. This game really has the feel of an old-school choose-your-own adventure, adding to the atmosphere with gorgeous book-like formatting and pencilesque illustrations. It's certainly come a long way since chapter 1, which I originally played when it was first released. The writing is fantastic... bone-chilling and captivating, drawing players into the mystery. I still have a lot to play through to reach the end, but I'm hooked! ...I pet the cat a lot.

I don't typically play text adventure games, but this one is excellent. The story is engaging and the feel has just the right amount of mystery and spook. What I like most is I don't feel like I've made any "wrong" choices which is my usual worry about in these types of games.
