I Saw Black Clouds

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
tl;dr
took a while, but in the end it was a okay-ish, genre bending FMV experience
Overview
After the sudden death of a close friend, you return to your hometown to attend the funeral. What initially feels like a short and uncomfortable visit quickly spirals into something much stranger. As you dig deeper into the past, old relationships, buried secrets, and unsettling events begin to surface. I Saw Black Clouds is a FMV narrative adventure that blends psychological drama, mystery, and light horror elements, where your decisions influence both the story and its outcome.
The Good Stuff
The protagonist delivered a rather strong lead with believable acting. Beyond that, the game does a decent job at building atmosphere. There’s a constant sense of unease lingering in the background, even when nothing overtly threatening is happening. The pacing is slow, but deliberate, and once the story starts to open up, it has its moments of intrigue. Some narrative branches and revelations caught me off guard. The genre blend leads to different people playing the game only once may have a completely different experience to the point of playing a different genre all together. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3588331430
The Sorta-Kinda-Grinds-My-Gears-Stuff
The game often feels like it doesn’t quite know what it wants to be. It hovers somewhere between psychological thriller, drama, and light horror - neither fish nor fowl. This can be intriguing, but it is also weird in the execution. Some scenes linger longer than necessary, while others feel rushed despite being important. Decision-making sometimes feels less meaningful than it should, especially when different choices funnel you back toward similar outcomes. It’s not bad, but it does limit replay motivation unless you’re going for completion.
The Atrociously-Bad Stuff
Nothing truly atrocious. There are weaker moments and occasional awkward dialogue, but nothing that completely derails the experience.
Achievement-Hunter-Things
Easy and fully guided. If you’re familiar with FMV completions, you know the drill: follow a guide, make a few alternative choices, and you’re done. Low effort, low frustration.
Conclusion
I Saw Black Clouds took a bit to grow on me. It starts slow, feels unsure of its identity, and occasionally stumbles over its own ambitions. But once everything comes together, it delivers a decent experience. It’s not a standout in the FMV genre, but it’s competent, occasionally compelling, and different enough to be memorable. If you’re into narrative-driven FMV games and don’t mind a slow burn with a slightly awkward genre mix, this is worth a look - preferably during a sale. Not amazing but also not terrible.
🧧 NEGATIVE STEAM REVIEW – Malaysian Aunty Style (Mangles Edition) 🧧
Game: I Saw Black Clouds Aiyo… I tell you ah… this game right… I buy thinking horror thriller, end up become “drama auntie WhatsApp forward story but budget RM3”. First thing first, this one is those FMV game, meaning you sit there press button like ordering nasi lemak but story go whichever direction it feels like. Problem is ah — you think you making choice, actually game say “ok noted” then proceed to ignore you like your own children. Critics also complain choices feel pointless and inconsistent, like kena ghosted by your own decisions
🎭 STORY:
Wah the story ah… start already very heavy. Friend die, trauma, ghost, mental health… everything campur together like rojak but forgot the sauce. They try to talk about serious things like depression and PTSD… but the execution? Like auntie trying to explain crypto — confident but nobody understand. Review also say the themes handled very shallow and messy, like just use for plot twist only Then the twist… Aiyo… You think got big reveal, end up like: “Eh? That’s it ah??” Ending come faster than pasar malam closing time, and confuse until I question my own life decisions. Many reviews also say final act rushed and confusing
🎬 PRODUCTION QUALITY:
This one I cannot tahan. Scene transition like: “cut → black → boom different scene → your brain still loading” Audio suddenly cut, music jump here jump there like uncle karaoke drunk already. Critics say editing very jarring and inconsistent — YES, EXACTLY LIKE THAT Some acting okay lah… but others… like school drama competition but everyone forgot script.
👻 HORROR:
Scary ah? Got… but mostly cheap jumpscare energy. Like someone hiding behind door shouting “BOO” then expect Oscar award. Also the “ghost reveal” too clear already — no mystery. Horror become comedy.
🎮 GAMEPLAY:
Gameplay ah… You click choices. That’s it. But worse — sometimes your choice feels like: “You choose A or B?” Game: “Ok I pick C.” Walao… why I even here??
🧠 EXPERIENCE:
Playing this game feels like: You go mamak order teh tarik, wait 30 minutes, drink one sip… eh sugar forgot. That kind of disappointment.
👍 PROS (Auntie trying to be fair):
✔ Some acting not bad ✔ Got multiple endings (even though confusing like family drama) ✔ Short — can finish one sitting (thank god)
👎 CONS (Auntie unleash full power):
✖ Story messy like pasar after rain ✖ Choices useless like expired coupon ✖ Editing give headache ✖ Horror not scary, just annoying ✖ Emotional topics handled like gossip, not respect
🧧 FINAL VERDICT:
Aiyo… this game ah… not the worst worst… but also not good. It’s like: You go buffet… everything got… but nothing nice. Critics also mostly give low scores and say very hard to recommend unless you hardcore FMV fan
⭐ Auntie Rating:
4 / 10 — “Can watch, but don’t expect, later heart pain” If cheap sale okay lah… play with friends, laugh at nonsense, throw popcorn. But if you expecting deep story + meaningful choice… Auntie say: save money, go eat steamboat better.
I’m a fan of FMV’s… this one was sadly very poorly made. Acting doesn’t line up with your text selections. For example i picked “amused,” and my character blankly looked at the person instead. Another time I picked “Lie,” and the character just went “er…yeah…” and it picked up where just telling the truth ended up. The scenes are edited very janky. For example it shows you two turns down hallways and you choose. It doesn’t show the character walk to the door and down the hallway, suddenly you’re simply in another area walking. There’s stutters for no reason too as if there was supposed to be a decision that didn’t actually show up and the game unfroze. Also devs… the early scene where the male friend is sneaking behind trees on a hiking trail… come on. That was so bad you shouldn’t have even bothered including it at all.
It's incredibly dull and boring. The story is all over the place and the only good thing about this is the main actress. It's also really short under 2 hours of gameplay. Even for the current price I would not recommend this as it's just very bland and simply not worth your time.

I See Black Clouds is a bleak FMV psychological thriller with appropriate trigger warnings and an initially intriguing setup, but it never develops into anything coherent or satisfying. While each playthrough offers 100+ choices and clearly branches into different story paths, it’s frustratingly unclear which decisions are consequential—or why—despite visible relationship and ability trackers that are never explained. The first quarter shows promise, with some genuinely creepy locations and a strong performance from the lead actress, but the pacing quickly drags. Even after multiple playthroughs and looking up explanations, the story and endings remain confusing rather than meaningfully ambiguous. I wasn’t left unsettled or reflective—just bored and wondering what the point was. As a big FMV fan, this one simply didn’t connect. I wouldn’t recommend it, except maybe to genre completionists or those curious enough to experiment—preferably at a steep discount. The current Mixed reviews feel accurate. Rating: 4/10
I am being completely serious when I say this is genuinely one of the top 3 worst games I have ever played in my life. And no, I do not mean “so bad it’s funny.” I mean the kind of bad where you finish it and actually feel irritated that you wasted hours of your life hoping it would eventually become worth it. Perhaps I am simply too stupid to understand the incredible psychological depth and artistic brilliance this game supposedly has, because from my perspective, I Saw Black Clouds is an absolute disaster. The story constantly pretends it’s building toward something profound and mind blowing, but instead it just spirals deeper and deeper into confusing nonsense, awkward dialogue, forced drama, and an ending that somehow manages to make everything even LESS satisfying. By the credits, I wasn’t shocked or emotionally impacted. I was exhausted. This game feels like it was written by people who think “confusing” automatically means “deep.” Every conversation drags on forever while characters act in ways that make absolutely no sense just so the plot can force another twist or mystery onto you. None of the emotional moments land because the writing is so unnatural that I never once believed these people were real human beings. Half the time I wasn’t wondering “what happens next?” I was wondering “why is anyone acting like this?” And maybe the most frustrating part is that the game clearly THINKS it’s genius. It constantly presents itself like some incredibly smart, layered, emotionally complex experience when in reality it just comes across as messy, pretentious, and unbelievably frustrating to sit through. I genuinely would not recommend this game to almost anyone. Watch a summary online if you absolutely need to know the story. Otherwise save your money, save your time, and save yourself from the confusion-induced headache.
game is disjointed and choices do not matter at all. game is on rails..
