boring
Phones suck, drain your attention and make you miserable. What was once seen as a technophobic take held by a minority group is transforming into a more mainstream opinion each passing day, as everyone feels that every aspect of a phone has been carefully engineered to keep us in a nearly perpetual estate of boredom and irritation. While I thankfully have always managed to stay very private, not following any friends on any social media (besides basic communication via WhatsApp) and therefore avoiding the feel of living in a digital panopticon, my distaste for the concept of the smartphone (and in some degree of basically any modern digital technology besides e-readers and the steam deck) has increased exponentially reagardless in the last two years as I have noticed that its when I’m the most stressed and in my worst moments that I heavily increase my phone usage. It’s the realization that the promise of life-changing technology was corrupted by the ghouls in charge of phone and social media companies feeding of the negative impulses in the human psyche to marginally increase their quarterly profits. Because of this I have started to yearn for (a bit contradictory as I like to play videogames) a more disconnected existence. And it’s in this desire that I admire what this game does. It would have been easy to go for the “humans are hopelessly addicted to their screens” feel that so many icky illustrations made by most likely divorced cartoonists do (the Pokémon go ones are a classic if you want to have a laugh), but Land of Screens realizes that basically everyone wants to actually talk and connect with others, its just that the fear of bothering others makes us follow along in using phones as a default. Technology isn’t intrinsically bad; it’s just the use we’ve been maliciously conditioned to use it all the time. Honestly, this game has made me want to strike up a conversation with strangers the next time I’m waiting in the bus stop or something similar. The moment I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ finish college and have a stable income I will buy one of those e-ink phones and start living again.
Cute game with cute story!
(i didn't play the game for 16 hours, i accidentally left my laptop on) BUT this is such a nice n short game! it was nice to see the main character go around and talk to people, reconnecting with everyone after her breakup. very wholesome and positive outcomes.
I really enjoyed this game with its beautiful artstyle and storytelling but the story is way too short. I have 3.4 hours of playtime and i think thats too short to warrant the price ( it is worth it when it is on sale though )
this game is cute and a sweet little story to play in an evening <3
Lovely and short point and click game with a wholesome story about disconnecting from screens and social media. I loved the art style and music as well! If you wanna relax and play something, this could be your choice :)
Short game but very easy to play and nice to look at. Interesting story about disconnecting from social media and screens, I think teachers could use this game to teach kids that social media is no substitute for human interactions.
