Coming from ja2 years and i loved this new game. Finished 2 times and wondered around map doing side quests etc.. some objectives are times consuming and felt like drudgery but still ok for me enjoyed it all.. I will look for mods and possibly it will keep me busy for a while... well spend money
Good, feels like the JA 1 and 2, characters are there, banther is there. Use the mods for best experience. Not too short, not too long. A lot of interesting stories and subplots inside. Worth it,
Ahh... Jagged Alliance. I tried the first game when I was a stupid little kid. Brutal, but so cool! The graphics and action were bombastic, but I couldn’t keep up. I see the ball‑buster tradition is alive and well in Jagged Alliance 3. You start on “tutorial island” — tutorial island my ass! It explains nothing, and after the first couple of battles the difficulty spikes hard. On standard difficulty, mobs have massive AP pools and constantly spam status effects like suppressed or slowed, which reduce your mercs’ already limited AP. Stealth isn’t intuitive, but with trial and error you can figure it out. There are no hit‑chance percentages or enemy HP bars You just have to guess and “feel” whether your merc will connect, and if he does, whether it’s enough to kill. That alone makes the game punishing, because as a newbie you have no idea what’s happening. I like that JA3 doesn’t hold your hand, but the curve could have been smoother. After I finally conquered and escaped that hellhole of a tutorial island thanks to savescumming with decent gear, weapons, and mods, I wiped out the first enemy port with ease. Others say the difficulty drops heavily mid‑game, and I can see how that happens. Anyway, I restarted on Ironman. because that’s how these games should be played. I’ve already lost two runs to bad RNG. Frustrating! You really need to lean on stealth and overwatched ambushes just to move forward, and pray to RNGesus for hidden kill chances. Even weapon modding is a gamble: even with enough mechanical skill you can fail to install a scope or silencer, wasting precious parts early on and even damaging your gun in the process. So yeah, the game is tough and somewhat unbalanced, but it delivers a solid challenge. I’ll probably give it another one or two Ironman runs. Just sharing my JA3 experience, I think there are better tactical games out there, mostly because of pacing. What I described above is part skill issue, part poor tutorial. What I really dislike is the art style and writing. We’re in the middle of a brutal civil war, yet the dialogue is dripping with Marvel‑style millennial cringe. Humor belongs in Jagged Alliance, sure, but I’d much rather have A‑Team‑style entertainment than this embarrassment. Performance on mid-range hardware could be better, honestly. The music, though, is genuinely great. UPD Finally finished the campaign on First Blood with the “to the bitter end” option, in case my IMP merc would die. No losses, but several memorable teeth‑clenching moments when mercs were down. Technically, I couldn’t finish due to a bug in the endgame quest. The quest says “open satellite map,” but nothing happens — the game just pauses. I found only two other people who encountered this rare bug (https://steamcommunity.com/app/1084160/discussions/0/5276582532044373727/). There was also a bug with Smiley’s quest: father wouldn’t let me speak to him despite the fact I knew he was hiding him. The father also refused to trade diamonds with me after I killed the crime boss. He said I should establish order first, but even after I trained militia, he still wouldn’t trade. I really enjoyed the tactical combat—planning, stealth, ambushes, or blowing things up with mortars and rocket launchers. But by the end of the game I was tired of it, because without solid writing the gameplay itself can only carry you so far. And the writing is bad: quests and characters are forgettable or outright annoying. Too many strange female characters in power, like the band of grannies called Coffee Beans, or another granny called Beast with her simping ex‑husband. The pacing is all wrong. The start of the game is hard, but after the first island until mid‑game it becomes super easy. Then there’s a small difficulty bump, but after a few battles, once you get new guns and levels, it becomes easy again. On First Blood there are too many supplies. The inventory management was annoying, especially between two squads. You can’t leave materials in a square stash for the second squad. You have to place them inside their own stash. And since you can waste hundreds of parts on failed upgrades in a row, too many drops aren’t actually a bad thing. I was thinking of a new playthrough maybe in five years, for the Ironman achievement on the highest difficulty. But since I couldn’t even finish the current game due to bugs, this playthrough will probably be my last. Also, there’s one section I’d describe under spoilers that represents everything wrong with the game —when I genuinely wanted to quit and delete JA3.
On the north part of the map, there’s a port with a diamond mine nearby. The owner of the mine is an old German gentleman. He gives you a simple fetch quest: find a missing diesel canister for him, and in exchange he’ll hand over the deed to the mine. A money‑making diamond mine for a canister of diesel?! Ok, whatever, I’ll take it. Turns out the diesel is some kind of drug that turns people into super soldiers. After returning the canister, the mine really does become yours and starts making money, while the old German gentleman disappears. But then I discovered a secret passage beneath the mine. Obviously, out of curiosity I went to investigate, and found a massive underground railroad network connecting several secret bases and labs. That old German gentleman is actually one of two Nazi officers working on cryo‑preservation of Nazi leaders and manufacturing this diesel drug! So why did that old fart give me the diamond mine that leads straight to the lab where he can produce more of the drug anyway?! You also encounter the other German, the doctor, who runs the experiments. He’s willing to surrender, but if you warn him you’re coming, reinforcements arrive. My mistake was trusting a dodgy Nazi Mengele‑type doctor. The difficulty of this section is insane. I broke my Ironman rule and reloaded several times, otherwise it would’ve been game over. There are many melee enemies who can sprint across half the map and kill your merc in one swing, and you can’t do anything about it. The section is a maze, with bastards hiding around corners. You rarely get a chance to shoot their legs to slow them, so they rush you like maniacs, slicing up your mercs while shouting about their “pure blood.” Yeah right, pure blood. When I finally reached the cryolab, the first German was attacking it for some reason, or maybe he was attacking me, but the quest log description said he was attacking the cryolab. Maybe I failed a skill check, I don’t know. I had no idea what his plan was or why he was doing any of it. Why couldn’t he prepare a new canister of the drug? Why did he leave me his mine with an entrance to the secret compound? Why did he attack the cryolab? Whatever, the writing and pacing are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ in this game. After I finally finished that section, I ended up right under the colonel’s fort, one of the three final bosses. I’m pretty sure this is how you’re supposed to do it, not a frontal assault. The boss fight was so easy compared to the Nazi section it felt like nothing. I even stealth‑killed him and wiped out the others.
非常好的游戏,深度很高,内容非常大让我玩了那么久,总之非常推荐
great game! played the original when i was a kid. The last remake was bad, but this one is AMAZINGLY well done with great voice acting and gameplay 10/10 so far loving it
Батя играет, ему нравится
8 crashes in 108 minutes. crashed on startup, in the menu, mid mission. UI also soft locks sometimes. common fixes like -dx11, frame limits and window mode did not help. the 20 minutes i did manage to play without problems seemed fun. steam forumites insist it's my PC that's somehow bad despite playing through many highly demanding AAA games at high settings without a hitch
это не jagged alliance,что угодно,но не она.
Great tactics game with overworld strategy.
