The game follows the previous iterations in a turn-based isometric style combat system similar to more recent X-Com and the like. The game is fun, but it does have certain issues that make it a bit less enjoyable at times. Combat is challenging, but can be a bit painful due to the camera and UI. Equipment management is there for people who enjoy maximizing numbers, but is a tedious process. It would have been nice to see a bit more variety in weapons, even with mods it is a bit bland. Most weapons have similar or the same stat blocks, so there isn't any real difference between them aside appearance. Mods follow this by placing 20 new weapons of each category that function the exact same way as vanilla weapons with a new skin and same stat blocks. I think my biggest issue though is the AI. Many times the AI will do insane or useless things, like the civilians running into the middle of a gunfight. Or the militia defenders running around in circles 5000m away from the actual fighting. A minor thing, but still annoying, is the few quips the mercs belt out every five seconds on repeat when you do something. The first couple times it's got a little charm, but at line 8236 it's just grating. The story is fine, if a bit one dimensional. They place several factors in your way to make time work against you. Diamonds are your money-makers, but the mines dry up, meaning you need to constantly push for new income and balance getting gear and new mercs with your limited income. Additionally the game has several invisible checks on time played to fire off events without warning. The game is VERY bad with co-op. It is plagued with desyncs, poor designs, and glitches. In co-op players compete to act in every capacity, with only one person able to set up actions at a time in combat, one person allowed to do inventory management at a time, players being unable to access menus if the other player is acting. It is possible to play co-op, but I would not recommend it. Overall it is not bad, but it does have issues that can be annoying or frustrating at times. The modding community is still somewhat active, but limited in scope. I'd recommend picking it up on sale, if anything.
Wertung: 8/10 Sterne
A truly amazing game. However, in the tradition of Jagged Alliance, it has very unfair event and quest triggers. However, also in the tradition of Jagged Alliance, there is a mod to fix this. RIP my first run. Will start a proper one again in a few months. I HIGHLY recommend this game and its production value.
It's a good game, relatively good follow up to the original Jagged Alliance. There are some good tactics, RPG elements and weapon upgrades. I would still recommend this game, but there are lots of issues. I would rate it somewhere around 7/10. The story line is hard to follow, locations are hard to piece together as some refer to coordinates, some location names, but you can only see the coordinates, so you have no idea often times. You only see quests on current map, so really no clue about overall goal. So I felt like just wondering around aimlessly. And that's how it also ended, just random map attack and the game ended. The UI is not very good, and there are a lot of repetitive actions you have to do over and over. The perks system is decent, however nobody was over level 8, thus didn't really have a chance to enjoy any of the better perks. Certainly would help to be able to level up faster to at least something like level 15. But the major issue is with the weapons. You probably find all the good weapons in the first hour or two and upgrade them in the next hour or so and afterwards, all the weapons and upgrades become pointless. So that is most frustrating that majority of the game is played with the same weapons and scavenging becomes pointless chore.
nice
really good gameplay and control of mercs on the map and i really enjoyed the workshop elements which change certain aspects of the game. amazing replay value
Ei met Ui. Goeie Saus dus.
