If you like balancing resources and dying a lot, this game is for you!
I want to be clear upfront that I played the game on the easiest difficulty, so take that as you will. But, I had a good time with this game. The clear wins are the art direction, the story, and the music, I think those are things that most people will agree with. Some things that you may like or dislike, are the game balancing, difficulty, and the nature of the game. Ultimately IXION is about reaching a destination, it's not a sandbox city builder to craft a utopia. It's a space station with a limited lifespan, and everything you do in the game is about making it last while overcoming various obstacles. This means things can and will frequently go wrong, you will get punished for some choices, and a lot of the game is about working around negative events rather than preventing them altogether like you might in other city builders. Personally I do wish there was a sandbox mode, I would love to be able to continually explore space and colonize worlds sort of like a more zoomed in Stellaris. But I think having an ultimate goal in a city builder isn't a bad thing, and it's something that a lot of other games fail to implement. In terms of difficulty, keeping in mind I played it on the easiest setting, I would say that I don't particularly want to try it on harder difficulties, but if you're into that kind of thing you will probably find the game quite rewarding. The game pushes you to progress and punishes you for taking your time though, which I really didn't appreciate, but I kind of get it since if you had infinite time it also nullifies a lot of threats. In summary, I do recommend this game, it's different and it will stress you out a little bit, but the journey is worth it.

This is game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. You should play it.
Love the concept, atmosphere of doom with slight glimmer of hope, and turning Tiqqun into a giant Samsung Galaxy 7 in the end
cool game, but not very replayable. A very nice frostpunk like gameplay-loop that allows for quite some interesting challenges. I would recommend the game, but do beware that you will likely not want to play it more than once. one complaint: science events feel super random and the fact that I can randomly lose a scientist without warning gives a bit of randomness that does not work well when also time constrained.
The narrative falls flat, but the setting is fantastic. Building up your space industry is incredibly engaging. It is absolutely worth at least one full playthrough.
