I loved the story and theme. Would love more of this
I absolutely loved IXION. After playing for 33 hours, I can honestly say I enjoyed every minute of it. What stood out most was the constant need to adapt. There were always changing variables to manage, and even when everything seemed stable, a new problem would appear and challenge the systems you had built. You could never become complacent because one poor decision could quickly create a chain reaction and put the entire station at risk. The infrastructure management was excellent. Planning ahead was crucial, from organising production and resource storage to keeping the population fed, healthy and working efficiently. Every system felt connected, and success came from understanding how all the different parts of the station affected each other. IXION felt like a proper management simulator. It rewarded careful planning, quick reactions and the ability to recover when things went wrong. The constant pressure of trying to stop the station from falling apart made every success feel earned. For me, it was a fantastic game and an easy 10/10.
Excellent story based city builder, only annoying part is not knowing the dimensions of buildings before they are unlocked which can make it difficult to plan. Highly recommend!!!
I really enjoyed this, bought it on sale and played it almost solidly for a week until I'd finished it on normal and then challenge mode. It does take time to stabilise. Other people have said there is a ticking clock which is kind of true, but you still easily have time to extract every single node on the map if you can make the space to store it! Don't rush expansion until you're ready, but there is a constant feeling of optimisation, changing layouts, expanding districts, fitting new buildings in your already carefully tetris'd districts. The only truly finite resource is for late game power, but you can juggle enough to remain under the natural limit if needed. You transition nicely from micromanaging each building in the early game, to managing districts as a whole. The soundtrack was brilliant, and I really enjoyed the story. I got stuck on one of the last achievements but I enjoyed working to get it. Highly recommend this little gem and I hope there's a sequel.
Monk hat also Pause!
