Бедняки всех стран, нам нужно есть насекомых, богатые нас никогда не обманывали
Easy recommendation. A very charming game. Half of the gameplay is a third person platform shooter and the other half is a simple point and click game. Think of it like Psychonauts if it was mashed with early Tell Tale or LucasArts Games. The only issues I had with the game was an area towards the end having a nearly invisible platform that you need to cross for progression which was annoying, and the other was the game force quitting during cutscenes (presumably due to something about the game being busted since it's old.) Other than that I had no bugs (huehue) during my playthrough. The game is only the first part of what was meant to be two. It didn't sell well enough to get a proper game, but the FMV cutscenes for the second game are available on the designer's Youtube channel for those interested: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL963FBBF618092865

Fantastic game! I love genre mashups like this which is a mix of point-and-click segments and 3rd person shooter/platformer. It totally works in the context of a detective/cop theme. The art direction is fantastic and the dialogue will make you chuckle with all the bug-puns. I got stuck a couple times during the point-and-click segments, but once you do figure out a part you're stuck on, it's one of those "ah, that's clever!" kind of moments. Too bad they never released part 2 for PC. The whole game was released on DS, and I played it all the way through on that platform back in the day. I wanted to check out how the higher definition PC looked. It didn't disappoint! If you play this on PC, I highly recommend seeking out the DS version somehow too to finish the story.
This is a hard game to review. I definitely enjoyed parts of the story and was overall quite interested in what would have happened in part 2 (there is a youtube channel with the cutscenes that would have been in part 2). The reason for not recommending this game comes down to a few points: - the game introduced quite a few challenges throughout, such as providing minimal directions on how the game worked. This led to me having to google controls early on to see how I was supposed to interact with things in the world. - The controls for movement itself was also challenging. I would sometimes jump where I thought I was supposed to go, but if I was slightly off then I would die or fall and have to restart that section even if I was almost in the right spot. - Sometimes the level objective was hard to figure out. The level may tell me to do XYZ, but then it is not clear how that is actually supposed to be achieved or where on the map I would have to go to do it. - This is not a reason to not recommend exclusively, but the graphics are clearly very dated as you can see in the pictures on the store page.
Insecticide Part 1 is an okay action, detective game. But what is the story. In the city of Troy it was supposed to be just another night, another simple case for Detective Chrys Liszt and her senior partner Roachy, they were on the case of the mysterious murder of an employee at the soda drink conglomerate Nectarola, a company that has a near monopoly on all of the city. But this was no simple murder as this case will unveil secrets to detective Chrys’s mysterious past, but is this fiery insect prepared for what's on the other end or will she be squashed. The likes, the gameplay was okay it combines fast-paced shooting with point and click detective work and I think for the most part works pretty well. The story was pretty good it definitely uses all the tropes of detective noir stuff, hard-boiled detective with a young female partner with a mysterious past, that's sort of thing but sprinkles in some meta jokes and bug related puns. The graphics are okay they definitely have a 2008 vibe with its uses of designs, colors and scenery that fits with other games of that era. The levels are good each area is unique and stands out pretty well really catches the whole grimy city that you see in detective stories. The characters are good each bug has its own unique design and some fun, if not a bit cliche personality which I don't mind, I like Detective Chrys she's cute yet badass. The voice acting is very good it has some pretty good and recognizable voice actors. The music was good each song fitting this detectiveish game well. The dislikes, some parts of the game definitely feels bunk like the platforming mechanic feels a bit finicky, especially when you have to platform on very skinny ledges, it's particularly noticeable in the final level. And speaking of that the final level there are Invincible enemies that hide in manholes, I tried to kill them but shooting them doesn't do anything, there's also annoying spider bot boss and I had to look up a walkthrough on how to defeat it and it's pretty annoying to fight, especially with how quickly your health can go down because of the annoying invincible enemies. Also the story ends on a cliffhanger which I sadly think it will never be completed which is sad this game isn't bad, it actually has some interesting ideas maybe someday it'll be picked up by a gaming company and they'll release a remake of it. Now then with that all finally finished Insecticide Part 1 is an okay action, detective game, it has okay gameplay, a pretty good story and good characters, so do I recommend this game, sure I mean if you're looking for a time waster.
Insecticide is a weird game, and the context around it is even weirder, but that's for another day. Calling insane game logic prevalent would be an understatement. Bar maybe the first stage, every level of this game has something that could be described as infuriating, whether it be unclear solutions, unintuitive platforming, or progression points that blend in with the background. ... yet, I cannot bring myself to dislike this game, and it pains me to my cold, overly-critical heart. It oozes charm: the fun voice-acting, the psychonauts-reminiscent style, and that out-dated weird comedy common-place in adventure games of the time. It's hard not to love this game. I would absolutely recommend it if it seems like you could enjoy it - just have a guide open because you will need it at some point. (Chrys is weirdly hot as well, so that's a solid plus, just look at her ass)

This game is blend of platformer and detective pont&click. With very unusual world and interesting, but easy to pick up story. Unfortunately the game itself has some issues with stability, BUT if you willing to endure this game would be actually enjoyable. It's pretty cheap so give it a try. (Just don't wait for PART 2 to come out)
