Highly recommend. Fun and easy to play compared to more other paradox games.
I'm biased as I love paradox grand strategies. Amongst them, this one is another game in this genre. I feel how their experience and QOL features are migrating across the projects, and it feels really nice to play. Experience wise, it gave me exactly what I came for: building Roman empire from scratch and playing as Roman Emperor, through it's ancient period. As suitable for the ancient era, it has a few typical paradox gameplay mechanics simplified. You don't get overwhelmed by Agressive Expansion if starting too many wars. and it decays pretty quickly. War exhaustion is not that hurtful. And unrest is something you can deal with without half-country scale civil wars. So it feels easier, in terms of difficulty, but it really suits the era of wars, conquests and almost no global diplomacy. Mechanics wise, this game is a mix between Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis. Less character focused than CK. Character interactions are present but not playing such important role as suitable for an empire, mostly coming up to important families in your country and notables you employ. And it got more country level mechanics and more country level control than in CK closer to EU. The map feels larger as it split into smaller provinces, so despite it being more limited than the other two (with huge portions of European North and Asian East being off limits) it has more territories to play with. To sum up, I really enjoyed it. If you are just starting with paradox games, it's a nice title to begin with, as it has a bit of everything but simplier. If you are already familiar with them, grab this one, you won't regret.

PEAKKKKKKKKKK DONT LISTEN TO THE BAD IMPERATOR, ROME NEEDS YOU TO GRIND PHYRRUS INTO ASH
I feel like Julius Caesar himself
RECO
This is the story of a great game with great potential botched by early missteps. I still regard this as one of the best Paradox games made as it ended up (I've played most of them) . Especially with the support of a dedicated Invictus mod team giving this game ongoing life even though Paradox gave up on it, I have probably enjoyed this more than any other GS game. It is often very cheap when the sales hit and I STRONGLY recommend it if you like the grand strategy genre. When the right sale is on, it is excellent value for money. Again, update to the latest version, plug in the Invictus mod and it is among thte best of the Paradox games made.
It is truly amazing
Kind of lifeless compared to the other paradox games
