ICEY is a 2D side-scrolling action game and a META game in disguise. As you follow the narrator's omnipresent voice, you will see through ICEY's eyes and learn the truth about her world. The narrator will constantly urge you in one direction, but you must ask, "Why? Why am I following his directions?“ Obey? Rebel?

I have to say im disappointed by the direction this game goes, such a wasted potential despite the well character design and enemies, this game could go on develop into something better, i hope u can sell this game to different company and make it a new
Combat feels weightless, repetitive, and inconsequential in the long run. Not once was I encouraged to upgrade any of my abilities, because it all felt so "pointless," I don't know how else to describe it. It just seemed like the enemies were mindlessly running their scripts in the background with complete disregard to anything that the player was actually doing. In addition, the infinite multi-directional dashing further cheapens things. I know there's a dash counter, but it refilled so quickly, the counter may as well not be there. The difficulty was essentially non-existent, going back to my not wanting to upgrade any of the abilities. It just seemed like I'd be able to button-mash/dash my way through every encounter, including the Boss fights, but with no real challenge reward to the player for completing a section. The main gimmick, the Narrator quickly wore thin, and I never felt really compelled to continue this past the point of finishing a game. The story, even for as little as I played, didn't feel compelling at all. It's like playing a full-priced work-in-progress disguised as a polished game. There are far better Hack & Slash titles out there, and I certainly wouldn't consider this a Metroidvania. Now, I impulse bought this, shame on me, but for anyone else? You might want to consider a demo first; I sure should have. On the plus side, you can tell that a lot of care and attention went into the main character design, but beyond that, the total experience, left me wanting more... of another game. Sorry, but this one just didn't do it for me.
This neat little platformer game isn't perfect, but it has fun combat and a silly story, and I enjoyed playing through it, so I think it's worth getting if it's on sale. The story is certainly quite unusual. It follows ICEY as she makes her way through an abandoned city to slay Judas, who is presumably responsible for the city's destruction. The narrator guides you as you progress, although you're given many opportunities to disobey him, which prompt humourous encounters with him, although they are a little on the nose and get a bit repetitive after a while. There does seem to be a bit of deeper lore to parts of the story as well, but it was a bit complex and I had a hard time figuring out exactly what it was supposed to mean. Unfortunately I didn't find the English voice acting to be very good, but I found the Chinese voice acting to be quite a bit better, so I'd recommend using the Chinese dialogue with English subtitles for the best experience. The gameplay is pretty fun, and I enjoyed the movement and combat, although it also got a little bit repetitive after a while, as there's a pretty small number of different enemies, and they're all fairly similar. I did end up playing on what I believe was the easiest difficulty though, so it's possible that it might be a bit more exciting on harder difficulties (the game gives you some questions at the start to determine difficulty, but the questions aren't clear and there's no easy way to change the difficulty later). The combat is neat, and I thought the different moves you can unlock were cool, although the hitboxes and responsiveness do leave a little bit to be desired. It's a pretty short game as well, with a fairly small map and only a handful of bosses. The game does look quite nice, and it ran on my Steam Deck without any issues. TL;DR This neat little platformer isn't perfect, as the story is a bit odd and gets a little bit repetitive, the English voice acting isn't great, the combat isn't perfect and gets repetitive after a while as well, and it's fairly short. However, I still enjoyed the story and the combat, and had fun playing through it, so if the game interests you, I think it's still worth getting on sale.
magnifico obrigado pelos trofeu, vou fazer bom uso kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
This game is very over-hyped and amounts to just midwit appreciation. The game is lauded for its mindblowing narrative, but it suffers from several key problems. The biggest problem, and its selling point, is the 'meta plot' - which is very, very basic. It essentially amounts to that the game tells you to go right, and you can go left instead and the narrator gets mad at you. Wow. If this idea is mind-blowing to you you might enjoy it, but I beat the entire game, got the true ending, hoping something cool would happen and it never does. The entire game is literally just the narrator whining 'why wont you listen to me'. This is on top of the large problem that the 'icey' game you are playing is actually pretty basic and boring. The combat is laggy, prone to input lag, prone to getting perma-bashed. The exploration is basic, the combat is dry, bosses are easy/boring, and its just all pretty pathetic. 'Thats the point of the meta!' someone might argue, but then the meta plot sucks too, again if the narrator saying 'why are you breaking my game' when you go the wrong way amounts to literary depth you might be impressed. Mostly I was just really angry this game was rated posistive at all for how stupid it was. F
very good story
The company I work for is evolving their '2D art chops' so I'm looking for games that could inspire and help the team with that. So I bought this game mainly for reseach purposes. The in-game art is of an intermediate level. Icey, the anime-styled heroine, is by far the most polished asset I've seen in the game so far. For a 2D puppet rig her animation is quite nice, but suffer by some of the stiffness that this animation style comes with. The enemies and bosses are very plain and stiff. Some of the environment assets and the backgrounds are well crafted illustrations, but lack a sense of artistic weight and idenity. It becomes a generic sci-fi and post-apocalyptic scenery very quickly. What surprised me though was the narrative and meta hooks in the game. Those kept the game feeling fresh and surprising. Also dashing around in the air feels nice! I dont know if I will play that much more. I think I had my fill. But I can certainly see why Icey have gotten many good reviews.
